I am so glad you asked this question because I've often wondered myself. I've tried and now that I look at these I realize that I'm cutting the ribbon too long in the first place so it ends up all flippy floppy. TFS

I have also used brads - put a brad through the ribbon and paper, then tie the knot around the brad.

I would tie them then use a clue dot.  I love that stuff - clue dots.  I can't keep them supplied.
