Re: **Flocking Demo** HERE
 Alrighty!  Here we go!

First off, I started flocking about 2 years ago.  A wonderful friend of mine had created this tag, and I was immediatedly fascinated.  She sent me all of the supplies and I've been dabbling ever since.  She uses an "old" technique, and I had really planned to show you the "new and updated" products.

Her detailing on the giraffe was stunning.  (The tag was made my Donna...ScrapDoggie, for those of you who may remember her).

Re: **Flocking Demo** HERE
So, with my Fun Flock and my Stamp 'N Bond in hand, I sat down to recreate what she had done.

And, I'm going to tell you the truth...I'm not so impressed with the Stamp 'N Bond.  I may work well with a larger surface area, but really isn't the best thing for any sort of detail work.

Re: **Flocking Demo** HERE
NO matter what I tried, the Stamp 'N Bond just didn't impress me.  Here's why...

The first turtle is done with Stamp 'N Bond

Image

And the second, using the old flocking technique

Image

IN the second, you can see the detail in his shell, and the seperation of lines on his face.

Compared side by side, there's no comparison.  The turtle on your left is the old technique, and the right is using Stamp 'N Bond.

Re: **Flocking Demo** HERE
Let's cover the Stamp N Bond, quick-like, then I'll let you in on the old technique.  ;)

Stamp 'N Bond is meant to be heated.  So, you want to stamp your image with an embossing pad and apply your Stamp 'N Bond.

Heat as you would any embossing powder, paying close attention to the consistency of the Stamp 'N Bond, once it's starts to look wet and slick, you're ready to apply the flocking powder.  I tried both dumping it on/patting it down, and dumping it on and shaking the paper side to side to coat the image, and neither was terribly successful.  Stamp 'N Bond would probably work great with an alphabet stamp.  A larger surface area with less detail.

This is soo cool, but I've got to put my fastscrap in the gallery and then take a shower and head to my dd's gymnastics thing. I'll have to check in, in an hour.
