HELLO ALL and Happy NSD 2024!
Welcome to the DIE CUT Layout Challenge!
For clarification please, by die cut I am referring to cutting yourself at home with a manual die cut machine or electronic one like a Cricut etc, not preprinted ephemera shapes. Thank you!
Some of you may not be used to laying die cuts over your photo. So, to get out of your comfort zone a little I challenge you to lay at least 2 (same or different) die cuts on any photo on your layout. It does not have to be totally on the photo, it can just overlap it a little and you can use the 2 on two different photos if you like. Sometimes there is extra space on a photo, or a little blip to cover. And sometimes a color contrast looks cool. No punches, stickers, or ephemera, this challenge is for die cuts (from manual or electric machine). Some dies are small, some are larger. It's easier than you think!
In my example layout I used a simple word die cut (blessing), and one that I pieced together (lamb) for this layout of my nephew who I've been making a baby scrapbook for. Remember, at least 2 die cuts on any area of your photo or photos. I can't wait to see your layouts!
(--FYI my nephew is graduating high school this year and this is him today! He finished the Pittsburgh Marathon just this morning! His first full marathon! Just had to brag lol.)
My example:
RULES:
1. ONE entry per participant.
2. Challenge is open to paper and digital LAYOUTS only.
3. Photo (at least 1) required on your layout with at least 2 (same or different) diecuts overlapping the photo or photos.
4. Please upload your project into the Gallery and then post it to this thread.
5. NO COMBINING with any other NSD or Monthly Challenges EXCEPT the 25 Item Challenge and the Bi-Monthly/Motivation Challenge.
6. Must be a new creation!
7. Entries must be posted to this thread by Friday, May 17th at 11:59 pm EDT.
8. Winner will be chosen randomly from all eligible entries.
9. If you have any questions, please post to this thread or PM me.

I actually do this alot. Especially on photos where I don't look as good as I would like. Die cuts hide those parts. LOL

Great layout idea! I am proud of your nephew! My son ran that same marathon just a few years ago. I literally got up before 4 am, watched the race online for 4 hours, and was lucky to see him cross the finish line! I took a picture of that special moment pointing the camera at the laptop! lol

Here's mine,
I die cut the 3 snowflakes using metal dies and shimmer paper, and then 2 of them are overlapping a photo
I continued the idea of overlapping with the photos and the title
thanks for a fun challenge

Love this! And your layout is so sweet! Congrats to your nephew!
Ignore this entry please, finally figured out what you meant about die cuts.SandyK1967 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 5:49 pm
Great layout but I think those are ephemera or chipboard stickers, not diecuts??

Torn papers are great there on your awesome layout! I couldn't find this in your gallery, maybe you have it on private? So I commented here, thanks for doing the Diecut challenge!
