I’ve learned a lot over my years of scrapping.  One of my biggest lessons is that cardstock DOES matter.  When I started buying scrapbook paper, I figured that cardstock was the least important purchase, so I bought whatever was on sale.  Now I feel compelled to use whatever I’ve bought, so I’m stuck trying to spruce up cardstock that I don’t like.  My favorite cardstock is by Die Cuts With a View. So, what lesson did you learn the hard way? Random drawing for 25 points The winner is Scrapin4me

Don't buy the large packs of cheap pattern paper.  You never use it and it just takes up space.

I learned the JUST because something is on sale doesn't mean I need to buy it... or that I will use it!  I just purged yesterday and got rid of a lot of stuff I bought just because it was "so cheap!".

I would have to agree with you Tania. I am usually on a budget and it does not pay to buy the cheap cardstock. Most of what is in my stash now is also DCWV cardstock, that is all that I buy. The cheap stuff went to my daughter to play with!

Sometimes cheap adhesive isn't alway the best adhesive.

I've stocked up on so many supplies, but I have found that the more I get into this hobby, the more my tastes change, and things I bought last year are not what I want to use at this time! Also, trust your instincts!  I have yet to follow a pattern - I just play until I like the way a LO looks - maybe I'm just too lazy to spend the time looking for a certain sketch and trying to fit everything into that pattern.

Definitely learned the hard way not to use inexpensive albums.  I stick with Creative Memories.  But that was only after having to transfer 200+ pages from my first four albums!!!

The exact same lesson about the cardstock! I use to only buy patterned paper and buy a cheap pack of cardstock that no matter what I do with it- looks cheap!

Randomly buying stickers and then not using. When you go back and look at them, they look dated and then you don't want to use.

That I don't need every idea book that comes out just because there are a few things I like in each one. Online galleries, like the one here at ACOT, are more up to date, don't take up space and are searchable. If I feel the need to save some, I can easily organize them in a way that speaks to me.

When Karen Foster's "Click-it" first came out...I  couldn't find it anywhere in the stores..so I bid like crazy for it on Ebay...I won...and paid an obscene amount for it....and i have only used it once!! What a dork!I learned...wait til it's in the store, if you don't like it..perhaps you can return it! ~Sharronedited because i can't spell either...LOL!!

That trendy doesn't mean style. Just because the trend is "in" doesn't make it a good thing and I don't have to follow all the latest fads that come along.I've learned to stick with what works for me and my pages for my albums and not try to please others. In a few years those "others" will be gone and I will be left with my books - that's what matters most.

I've learned to buy what I need and know I'll use not just what is cute or looks good on someone elses pages.  I still make the mistake sometimes but I really try to buy only what I have the photos for.Laura
