For this challenge, I want you to make a scrapbook layout without using any adhesive.  No glue, no tape, no paste, no glue dots, no mod podge, no glossy accents, no homemade paste, no chewing gum, no silly putty,...you get the idea.
  • For your layout, you must use at least 5 different pieces of paper that are non adhesive (this includes cardstock, patterned paper, and photos).
  • You must have at least 3 non-adhesive embellishments that don't go through the paper.
  • You may use self-stick elements such as letter stickers, enamel dots, photo corners, and stickers as long as they are part of the design. (You cannot fold a sticker up and use it as tape, but you can put it across the front of 2 different pieces of paper to hold them together.
  • You may use any amount of brads, eyelets, staples, stitching, etc. but they don't count as part of  the 3 embellishments
  • You may use any amount of stenciling, stamping,  and mixed media but you don't have to.
Here is an example from me:
Image
I actually have 7 pieces of paper: 2 photos, cardstock background, patterned paper strip across the bottom, journaling card, tag, photo mat
My 3 non-adhesive embellishments are: the orange flower on the journaling block (held on with a brad), the brown flower on the lower right (stitched on), and the acorn in upper right (hold on by the chipboard sticker leaf and the enamel dot).
The papers are held together with stitching and brads. The enamel dots and arrows don't quite hold things together but keep them from rotating. The leaf has a long metal stem which I hooked through the background paper.

I hope this makes sense. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Please post your layout to this thread and let me know what you did to hold everything together. If possible, please post a photo of the back of the layout as well.

There is no combining with any other challenges(except the 25 item challenge).
Traditional layouts only (no digital)
Must be new
Your layout is due Monday, May 10 at 11:59 PM EDT.

Just to clarify, is washi considered tape and off the table?

You can use washi if it is part of the design. You cannot flip it around itself to use as adhesive, but if you use it decoratively and it happens to hold things together, that is ok. Does that make sense?

Perfect! I can now say there was an actual need for all the washi I collected over the years! :)

Such a creative, fun idea!  We have all gone through times when we ran out of adhesive, right?  Time to put on my thinking cap and dig through my stash!

I'm sure it's just me but I'm confused...

"My 3 non-adhesive embellishments are: the orange flower on the journaling block (held on with a brad),"

If the 3 embellishments can't go through the paper, we can use brads?  I'm lost.

you can use all the brads you want, but they don't count as the 3. So, in my example, the orange flower is the embellishment which does count. The brad is how I happened to attach it. Does that make it more clear?

Okay - got this done. Used brads and washi and some stickers. The 3 non adhesive embellies - 2 leaves - adhered with a brad the other with washi, and the pumpkin die cut at bottom adhered with a brad and sticker. Hope I did this right!

The overlay helps keep everything flat - adhered with brads.
