Okay, is everyone ready? Got your supplies? If not, this class should be pretty quick and easy to follow at another date. We are gonna be making an altered clipboard and making it a countdown to Christmas. Here is my finished project....
The first thing you want to do is take your patterned paper and trace the clipboard on the back so you can cut it out. Use a heavy duty glue and glue onto the front of the clipboard. I used Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive. I also did this on some scrap paper so when I smoothed out the glue it didn't get all over the place.
While I was waiting for the glue to dry, I got to work on the blocks.... this is where that chipboard that comes in our ups orders that we all hoard is gonna be used. I marked it every 3 inches on the top and on the side....I marked them so I would know which ones not to cut out. Cut around the 1-6...
This is what it will look like after you cut it out...
Now, score your box lines and fold up into a cube. I used that heavy duty glue and glued the ends together with strips of cardstock...
Okay...do that twice to make 2 cubes. Next I took my Club Cracker box and cut in right in half length wise....
Now, I had to cut the box again, it was the exact size of the clipboard but I wanted my cubes to be a bit snug...
Put your cubes in these pieces and to see where you need to reattach the pieces...
I used my heavy duty glue again and glued mine to the very bottom of the clipboard. You can glue yours anywhere you want. I put mine where I did because I didn't have enough ribbon to make mine hang. If you glue yours up a bit higher you can use a matching ribbon and clip it under the clip. Mine at the bottom stands by itself. For the cubes, I had to cut squares and attach with adhesive to all the sides. The 12x12 cardstock when folded around was a wee bit too small. I inked the edges to give it a polished look....
Now you are ready to decorate any way you like. The numbers for the cubes are: 0,1,24,7,8 and on the other one: 0,1,2,3,5,6(which doubles for 9)

Question for you all....,do you want me to edit my original post or do you want me to add new posts each time?
I think edit original post is easier to follow

How did you get the paper under the clip of the clipboard?

Lots of guess cutting! LOL! I pushed the paper up under the clip as far as it would go and then kept cutting down paper to match the missing pieces. Some clipboards have the clip screwed on turn yours over and see if you can unscrew yours...mine wasn't that kind.
I wasn't able to get all the supplies, but I have bookmarked this to do at later time. Your countdown clipboard looks great. I might just wait and have my dgd help me as a project for her.
I just picked up a clipboard to try this out later. I plan to use stuff in my stash. What a great idea. Yours came out super cute! I think the kids will love this!

Just an fyi....I created a gallery for those of you that get this done. I can't wait to see what everyone does!
The Believe in the Magic of Christmas tag at the top . . . Did you just adhere it to cardstock and handcut around it to get the same shape or do you have some other trick?
Cindy
Carrie - that's beautiful!
