Hello ladies. I'm thrilled that you're joining me for my class. I haven't taught a class in quite a while so I may be a little rusty.

I just adore the holidays and one of the best things about being scrappy is that we get to use our talents (and hoards of supplies) to create something special, straight from the heart, for our friends and family. We always hear about amazing crafty gift ideas but there are ways you can also use your supplies to accentuate your wrappings. Paper and digital alike can do this, so while I focus more on the digital & hybrid side, you can most definitely use these projects with paper too.
I'm using this amazing kit by Kim Hill: Believe in the Magic, for most of my examples.
First open yourself to the most simple projects. Use empty containers, boxes and tins as packaging and embellish with your favorite scrappy products. Create a simple label to make an old container, new again.

You can also use everyday items and find create new uses for them as wrapping, like a CD case.
Using a simple circle template and some cardstock, I created a new label for an old treat container. A CD case is instantly transformed into a GC or money holder, or possibly a homemade mix music CD or photo CD for a loved one. (sorry for the poor picture quality, the digital version is much nicer to look at)

Some of you oldies may remember a few crops back when I offered my little Kiss box mini class. It's such a cute little box and very easy to put together. This is one of the templates you'll receive in the Free template pack I'm going to put up after the class.

This box is designed based on the Milk Duds boxes and can be created as small as that, which is perfect for holding a couple Hershey's Kisses, thus the name.

You can use the template in any size you prefer. I have redesigned it from its previous offering, and is now slightly smaller than an 8.5 x 11' paper so you could choose to make one very large box if you so wish.

Another favorite template project is this cute little paper bag. I never did share the template, so I thought this would be the perfect time to do so.
This template is so easy to use! I've created each panel individually so you can customize each section. And for paper scrappers, i've also included a guideline only version that you can print and cut to use like a stencil template or print on the backside of your paper.
The finished bag size is approximately 6" tall and 4" wide.

After printing and trimming, I used a scalloped punch to decorate the top edge. Use a scoring blade or bone folder to make clean, crisp folds and then glue the tabs. The templates are marked to which tabs you will need to glue.

and another sample, not in a holiday theme.

Finally, I have one more template that you will receive in the pack. This one was a little trickier and sadly I don't have an example to show you. I just didn't get it finished in time but you will get the template for creating a Cake Box.

instead, I'm stealing this amazing example from our gallery. No, I cannot promice that your finished product will automatically look this scrumptious! LOL

I'll wrap it up by saying that the possibilities here are truly endless!! I had a dozen more ideas when I was planning this class, there is just no way I could have gone through them all, let alone made templates for them all.
I ask that you open your mind to the potential of everyday objects, empty containers and your own scraps. Recycle gift bags with new tags and trimmings. Refresh tubes, tins and jars with pretty labels. Transform them into cute wrappings to share.
