Just like any upgrades, you may find things in different places, but the actual functions should remain the same.

What operating system do you have? I will need to know in order to answer your question about brushes.

I have Window Vista
Copy and paste the ABR file to this location:

c:\program data\adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Presets\Brushes

It could be hidden so if you can change your folder views to show "all " then you will see it.

Ok, select the brush you want to use. I'm using Julie Mead's Chuckle Out Loud Alpha for my example.

Image

Stamp your brush on a NEW LAYER. (see my pic above in the pallete bin, bottom right hand side)

Image

In the palette bin, CONTROL + CLICK on the layer with your brush. You will get the marching ants.

Image

Next go to SELECT>INVERSE

Image

Click on your paper layer in the pallete bin so it's active.

Press Delete and you're done!

Can I put paste on my computer screen!LOL

The whole digi aspect just scares the crap out of me. I don't have the patience or the attention span...dh claims I have the attention span of a gnat!

Basically how does one start?

HAHAHA  I think the answer to paste on the screen is the same as white out on the screen...unless you're a blonde like me!  Cracked me up!

Ooo! That's a good question. I would use a round brush and freehand it, but I'll check with our other CT members and see if there is a better way.

Ok Here's a question, Usually I have my layouts printed at an outside source as then I know they will last, but say I want to print here at home, in the past photos I have printed here at home have faded etc...what kind of ink do I need to stop that...Does this make sense ...I've really gotten into doing 8 x 8 then putting them on 12 x 12, but have to wait for them to be printed and shipped...TIA

OK found it!!

Chose a brush. (For some reason the Basic Brushes wouldn't work for me, but my others did just as an aside) I have chosen here a square brush.

Image

Then click on BRUSH OPTIONS. This is the BRUSH ICON at the top of the work space that appears once your brush is loaded(selected).
In the fly out box, change the value for SPACING. I've used 164%

Image

Now to draw a straight line you will hold down the mouse button + SHIFT. If you want to free hand it, just don't hold down the shift key.

Ta-da!!

Image

Try out different spacing percentages to get the look you want.

Thanks for asking! I got to learn something today too! :-D

Honestly that all depends on your printer, the ink it uses and the paper you print on. I understand the Epson has archival quality products as does HP.

Sorry I couldn't be more specific for you. :?

Can I ask more a technical question that is driving me nuts!?!  How to you "thread" something through a hole? Like a wire through a charm or a string through a circle on a tag and make them look realistic. If I can't make it look "real" then I won't do it but I want to use tags. :(

These are all questions that have kept me from digi scrapping.  I might just get up the nerve to give it a try.  Would it be worth it to invest in a 12 x 12 printer?
