I am relatively new to the boards. I am thinking about participating in Novembers crop. Any thoughts or suggestions for the new kid on the block?

TIA :-D

Watch for the supply lists for classes to be posted about a month before the crop so that you can order them in time. The crop hostesses will post helpful tips from previous crops to help all the newbies get ready. Hope you'll be there! There are lots of fun games to play and points to be sprinkled!

I was a little overwhelmed my first time. It helped for me to realize that I didn't have to do everything, just the things I wanted to do and could find time for. What I do is write down the challenges I want to do and start on them later since we have more time to get them done. This gives me more time for socializing and playing games. The fast scraps are pretty fun if you feel like you can do it in an hour (that's usually pretty challenging for me). It also helps to plan easy meals, or last time, I cooked meals all week that had leftovers and told DH that was what we were having all weekend, and that way I didn't have to feel guilty about not cooking. Having music to listen to is one of my must haves, as are snacks. I always have a lot of fun...hope to see you there! :-D

Make sure you have lots of photos to choose from, and LOTS of adhesive! Decide what you are interested in before hand, and let the rest go! You will get overwhelmed if you try to do it all. Main thing is HAVE FUN!

we are working on classes right now :winkb: :winkb: :winkb:
and Brandon will make a forum as soon as I finalize them :)

sooooooooooo.....if there is anything that you REALLY want, post it here, and I might be able to get someone to teach it!

Just so you know, it is a crop for BOTH digi and paper, but Saturday IS National Digital Scrapbooking Day, so there will be more of a focus on digi and hybrid that day, but there will be paper activities as well!!!

Get a babysitter if you have kids!
My first crop I thought I'd pop in for awhile and see what it was all about, then I couldn't leave! It's really SO much fun- you'll love it!

This maybe an older technique but i just saw one the other day and loved it. It was called a flowerpot card...when a little tab fits into the pocket..and the person did a flower pot and it looked like the flowers were growing out of it.

I'm relatively new to paper crafting (bought a cricut last black friday) So i'm game for just about anything. I actually made the pocket card that was a challenge last crop, JMO95 shared with me and now i'm addicted to them...they are awesome for birthday cards and attaching a gift card. I even made one to put in a scrapbook to keep concert tickets in.

I always print out the schedule and write down the challenges as we go along. I find it necessary to have tons of adhesive and chocolate on hand. :)

The main thing is to just hang out and be ready for lots of fun. My first crop I was totally lost and was just learning how to get around the board. The first one was a learning experience for me, but after that I got the hang of it. Just jump in, pick something that's fun and do it. I love the games.

I print off the schedule ahead of time also and mostly play some games, when i can, Bingo is my favorite. There is so much going on I have a hard time keeping up, but it is fun. Definitely check it out.

1. print the schedule ahead of time
2. have lots of adhesive on hand

3. print photos of all sorts and sizes...cause you never know what we will do

4. place your ACOT order well in advanceImage

5. have a fresh blade on your trimmer!

6. I like to have a timer close by for fast scraps so I know exactly how long I have to post!

7. READ THE RULES ABOUT THE CROP IN ADVANCE!!! ENSURE you know how to post to the gallery znd then back on the message board, it gets CRAZY during crop time

8. sometimes the gallery gets overwhelmed and you can't get a fast scrap to laod, so ALWAYS PM the hostess sponsoring that fast scrap or challenge or game

9. have whatever beverage of choice you like on hand and LOTS Of it!!!!!ImageImage

10. have whatever snacky treats you like in abundance, because you may never leave your computer or scrappy room to actaully eat

11. know that you can't do it ALL!!!!!!! it will seem very overwhelming and sometimes there are 4-5 games going, a BINGO, a class and a fast scrap all at the same time! decide what yo want to do and don't worry about the rest! Image

12. Pam let the gals post their challenge LO's up until midnight EST on Tues to give everyone time to get their LO's done and uploaded!

13. have your favorite tunes close by!

14, and like somebody else said, if you have kids let your S/O know you will be busy all weekend or get a babysitter Image

14. HAVE FUN HAVE FUN HAVE FUN!!!!!! and come when I am hosting Image

Everyone's covered all of the bases. There is a thread SOMEWHERE on the board about preparing for crops but frankly, and please don't think I'm trying to be rude about this but, I'm in a towel with wet hair and have 30 minutes to get in the car to get to work. If somebody else doesn't have the link for you by the time I get home this evening, I'll look for it and try to post it then. Best advice is DON'T STRESS OUT AND TRY TO DO IT ALL! Well, that and have massive quantities of Diet Coke and M&Ms on hand...

Just wanted to bump this up - It can take FOREVER for supplies to get over here so I was wondering what I should pick up - general supplies - any suggestions?

Adhesive, adhesive, adhesive, and variety of it :)

Prepare with your favorite sweats/jammies.

Run your virus checker ahead of time and then cancel it for the weekend. It will just slow down your puter while you try to play games. Remember its easiest to have multiple tabs in your web browser open to flip back and forth.

Make sure you know how to post pictures in threads and how to pm.

Hoping you enjoy my class! and remember the classes will be transformed into articles so you can come back to them later :D

Have fun, but don't try to do it all.
