come into your own style?
I've been scrapping for over 2 years and I can't say I have a specific style. I try everything and there are lots of things I want and need to learn, but when I look at my pages I just get frustrated with the lack of individuality in my work. Other than the obvious, pictures of my daughter, there is nothing that screams "Adrienne" in any of the pages. Perhaps that's my style, eclectic?
But with over 100 pages under my belt, it's strange that nothing has immerged as a specific trait of my work. It's very frustrating. Anyone else in the same boat?
Thanks again to everyone I've spoken with. Everyone has been so pleasant and sweet.
Still evolving here! I've been scrapping for ten years and while I do have certain elements that I fall back on a lot, I love to try different ways of doing things. Thank goodness, because otherwise my albums would be REALLY boring to look back at!
I've been scrapping for 8 years now and I don't think I really came into any clear cut style until about the last 8 months to a year. I find that with scrapping I constantly evolve and change, which is a good thing in my opinion.

I don't have one, not sure I want one. I design for a few different designers and I like that what I do changes to meet their needs. What I create often changes with the photos and what their style represents. I hate boxes and don't want to be put into one.
I think what drives me crazy is when you can look at someone's work and you know exactly who did it without looking at the screen name. To a certain point, that's what I want. I don't want every page to look exactly alike, but rather a unique style that isn't a boring or bad knock off of someone else's work.
I guess I really don't know what to call what I do. LOL

Good for you! I wish I was that confident. I'm on a design team now and they create very basic layouts and designs for teaching and it's really hard to pull back and minimize the embellishments and techniques on the layouts.MLee wrote:I don't have one, not sure I want one. My style is always changing, growing and regressing..all at the same time. I think this will always be the way for me.
Your work is fantastic! If my work was consistantly good, I'd be okay with changing. Maybe that's the issue I have? Sometimes I'm really "on" and other times I'm completely "off"!Kimandasmo wrote:My style is always changing, growing and regressing..all at the same time. I think this will always be the way for me.

I always seem to do the same LO, over and over. I forget about all the embellies I have. Most all of my LOs are plain. I'm afriad to try too many things on a page, I don't like to over power the photo. I need to get some "chutzpah" and just do it!

Now that, I have no problem with! I actually get a little out of control with the embellishments. Nuts in fact! I need to pull back a bit, but it's almost like a fight between my head and my hands. I can't control myself sometimes.ammielou wrote:I always seem to do the same LO, over and over. I forget about all the embellies I have. Most all of my LOs are plain. I think I change with each layout. I try different things, and try not to do things the same way every time. I wouldn't want all my pages to scream, "Mary did this!"
Mary Love is all around you.
I just looked at your gallery. I love your los. You do wonderful work. I'm going to leave you some love.

My style is to scraplift everyone! Whether it is a technique, layout style, the paper choice they use. Whatever.. I'm only "inspired" every once in a while. But who cares. Everyone thinks I come up with the pages, because they don't know any better.
Adrienne, I believe you have a flair for using embellies in a very aesthetically pleasing way. That is your style. Yet none of your los looks like any of the others.

Thank you kindly! I try, but there are times that I love my layouts then when I take the picture and post them next to other's, yuck! Not happy with the outcome. I'm my own worst critic apparently!jcsmaestra wrote:Adrienne, I believe you have a flair for using embellies in a very aesthetically pleasing way. That is your style. I'm all over the place with my style. I scraplift a lot of what I love and call it my own !
I used to be a "celebrity cherry", but now I'm in re-hab...... Holy Carp!
I don't have a style and I have been scrapping since 1997. One thing I love about ACOT is the challenges, they inspire me to think outside the box and create something that I would not normally do.
I think it is perfectly fine not to have a specific style.
I don't do a lot of lumpy layouts, so maybe that is part of my style.
