Albums???

Hi, I need some experienced opinions before purchasing more albums. Have only tried a couple post albums (MM) so far and they worked well - am just a beginner. After reading some more lately it seems like a 3-ring album would be more practical - easier to expand, rearrange, and would hold more pages. Is there a big difference between C-ring and D-ring albums? What about MM vs We R Memory Keepers 3-ring albums? Thanks

I recently switched to D-ring albums and love them. I have bulky pages so I prefer the D-rings for space reasons. I use the American Crafts ones! One thing to keep in mind is that D-ring albums leave a space between pages so if you do two-page layouts this might bother you. I am a one-page layout kinda gal so it doesn't matter to me!

Would the C-ring albums have the same space? Not sure I would like that space between my two-page layouts.

I can tell you that I will NEVER buy a 3ring from HL again - it stinks - the rings don't line up right if you put a lot in. I have a pink leather one and I have it stuffed and it's awesome but I don't remember where I got it.

I used to think that post bound albums were cheaper because I'd get them for 3 for 10 bucks at my AC Moore, but I think when you consider the fact that D-Ring Albums hold about 3 times as much, and they are much nicer, it's worth the extra cost. D-Ring albums allow your pages to lie flatter. Plus, you can use your 40% off coupon here and at the other big box stores.

I haven't used any ringed albums yet, but I'm looking to. Michaels is selling them now. However, I will tell you that I use at least 3 post bound albums a year (with at least 3 extenders in them each). If the spine is made of paper, they will tear. So I always get the ones that have the vinyl/leather looking spine. Every once in a while, Joann's does a close out of a certain style with the leather-ish spine, and I stock up for a bout $3 a piece. I try to get them matching by year. And...I do a lot of 2 page layouts, so I can see the benefit of doing the post bound over the ringed albums, but on the other hand, you can always just hold that other page closer to the matching page for the whole effect. :-D

I LOVE the d-ring albums and will never go back to post bound. If I do a 2 page, I just make sure I don't split a photo in half and it works just fine. You get the general idea anyway. I have not used the MM ones before, but I did get a couple of WRMK and I am not a huge fan. Like the hobby lobby ones mentioned above, I have trouble with the rings staying together. So when I pick them up, pages tend to get loose. I have switched solely to the American Crafts d rings and LOVE them. You can get them in Leather or fabric covers. I go fabric because they are cheaper. They are about $20, but you can get them on sale. I was happy to see that Michael's is carrying them now because I can usually use my coupon to get one and then it is only $12 and then I can buy some refill pages because they album doesn't come with enough for sure.

I have a question, too!

I haven't had spine problems with my post bound albums. I've had problems with wear of the covers being slid across coffee tables. Do you have problems with wear and tear of the covers on D-rings?

I use American Crafts D ring from HL and wouldn't consider going back to post for anything. I like the convenience of being able to move pages around and the albums hold a ton. I get the fabric albums when they are on sale and just love them.

I have mind standing upright on a shelf, so they aren't getting slid around. I would imagine if you got the fabric covered ones, you wouldn't have that problem as much...but don't know for sure.

You might want to watch this site for their specials on albums. I once bought 3 albums for for about $8 each, including the shipping. I can attest to the fact that they hold about 30 pages - which makes for 60 layouts. I just presented an album to a friend yesterday, and that's how many layouts were in the album.

I bought albums from this site and absolutely love them. They are the D-ring kind. They are roomy, hold lots of LOs and are heavy duty. Also stylish! They work for me.
