I just rec'd this email, and possibly this news is already out there generally but as one of my faves I'm so sad and as an avid paper scrapper, scared about the future of this amazing art form.
Email: Twelve years ago, BasicGrey made its mark in the scrapbook industry with the release of Sublime and Motifica. Since then, we have brought more than 120 collections to market, along with hundreds of embellishments, stickers, tools, kits and so much more. It is with mixed emotions that we announce that BasicGrey has decided to leave the papercrafting space. We have considered every possible option before making the difficult decision to stop producing the products that brought us together. Our final ship date will be Thursday, February 18, 2016. Consumers have until February 15 to order our newest collections (Hillside, Urban Luxe and Saturday Morning), any other products in inventory, and the amazing, fully loaded boxes from the Winter Warehouse Box Sale. While it is very hard to say good bye to the scrapbook industry, we are eager and excited to put our creative energy into expanding our innovative sister company, Modify Ink. We will also continue to produce and release fabric with Moda, as well as other surface design opportunities. Thank you for supporting BasicGrey and creating so many wonderful, unique papercrafting projects using our products. We could not have succeeded all these years without you! Our best, Rachel & Greg BrenchleyBasicGrey, LLC
Noooooooo!!! Holy Hannah!!! My favorite company! I'm so crushed.
OCD is not an adjective. It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized. It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son.
OMG.... I feel like I just lost my best friend!!!

They were the first company I ever bought something from. This is sad news.

to be honest I haven't much liked their lines the last couple of years.....but I am sorry to see them leave the arena
Wow - they should have joined American Crafts.

I think their recent 'signature' style- is a bit too bohemian/ethnic for the AC umbrella.....I know that style is part of why I buy very little of it...
I just burned through their B-side collection...it's been a long time that I loved a collection this much.
It's a shame to see them close. There's the loss of jobs, further shrinking of the industry and I think they offered the most in new designs and color combos.

So sad...I have a huge stash of thier older lines here..but the last line of thiers I really loved was Persimmon...I do like the new Saturday Morning line...so may need to grab some of that.....
Yeah I just read this too, I have to admit I have not purchased any BG in probably 5 or 6 years as I have not cared for the lines that have come out. Their first few years I bought every piece of a product line and couldn't get enough BG. It is sad that this has happened.

OMG! I'm so sad! I have been away from scrapping for about a year or so and off the boards and hadn't shopped for anything. It's amazing how dead scrap message boards are now and how few people are uploading to galleries and talking about scrap stuff. So sad! Urban Luxe is definitely on my buy list. Ugh! Thanks for the heads-up!
I often admire a lot of the lines but can't see them used in my daily scrapping. However there are some lines I am just enamored with. Highline was exceptional!

I don't think it's a sign of things to come for the hobby. I can't speak for message boards in general, but yes, I can agree that the ACOT board isn't as busy as it used to be, but I don't think that's because people stopped scrapping. I think people are still uploading and talking, they're just doing it on Facebook and Pinterest or on blogs -- which I can't speak to that either, because I'm not on any of those. If you think about it, people have been scrapping and preserving for generations. That will always continue. The availability of products will certainly change, but the actual craft/hobby is here to stay. Despite all the technical advances these days there are just some things that can't be preserved electronically or digitally. Heck, I started my first scrapbook in the sixth grade with construction paper and stickers. It's still here, a little more yellow than I'd like, but I scrapped before there were millions of products and I'll scrap when there are 12. We'll be ok!MelissaS wrote:OMG! I'm so sad! So sad....I remember I would always go to the Basic Grey both first when I would go to CKC. I haven't gone there in years and haven't bought any new BG in years for the reasons already mentioned.
the last one I burned thru like that was RSVPchristinec68 wrote:I just burned through their B-side collection...it's been a long time that I loved a collection this much.

Wow!! I hate when a company goes under!!!
An expert at anything was once a beginner!
That one was a fave of mine too! I bought it up during BF sale.jrrah4903 wrote:I often admire a lot of the lines but can't see them used in my daily scrapping. However there are some lines I am just enamored with. Highline was exceptional!

I got the same email that Jillian did. Its a real bummer, that's for sure. I got into scrapping in 2010 and Basic Grey was the first company I bought up. From Granola and Max & Whiskers, to Hello Luscious and RSVP. That was last line I burned thru, couldn't get enough of it. Fell in love with Highline and Vivian. But as alot of ya'll have mentioned, their style has changed and I just don't buy it up like I used to. I'm waiting for Saturday Morning. Its a huge blow to the industry though. Surprised the cr@p out of me, when I was reading it.
