I don't think it's a sign of things to come for the hobby.  I can't speak for message boards in general, but yes, I can agree that the ACOT board isn't as busy as it used to be, but I don't think that's because people stopped scrapping.  I think people are still uploading and talking, they're just doing it on Facebook and Pinterest or on blogs -- which I can't speak to that either, because I'm not on any of those.  If you think about it, people have been scrapping and preserving for generations.  That will always continue.  The availability of products will certainly change, but the actual craft/hobby is here to stay.  Despite all the technical advances these days there are just some things that can't be preserved electronically or digitally.  Heck, I started my first scrapbook in the sixth grade with construction paper and stickers.  It's still here, a little more yellow than I'd like, but I scrapped before there were millions of products and I'll scrap when there are 12.   We'll be ok!  Image

I have noticed a slight trend in the last year...I have a group of gals I have known forever online and we have scrapped and shared with each other still as we all left other message boards etc....but in the last year...4 of the 9 gals have all gone digital and its harder to discuss product/trends etc  :(

I frequent 2peasrefugees and the ladies there talk about ACOT frequently.  I notice talks about hunting cherries, and it's always one of the first places mentioned about where to buy something scrap related.  These ladies shop and visit and read, but most just don't post.  Hopefully we'll be here for a long time.  There's a lot of FB groups and youtube groups now, and that seems to be where a lot of ppl are hanging out talking about their craft.

This hit me hard :(

Basic Grey is my first scrappy love and still holds true to today. So many big moments of my life are scrapbooked with Basic Grey. I started scrapbooking when they came on the scene and really am shocked and devastated about their closing. I'm glad I still have hoards of it left and have the new lines pre-ordered!!

Re: Another one bites the dust (WAH!)
I've seen new companies come and go (Chickaniddy I think is no longer...when I noticed nothing new had made an appearance in the Fall last year, I emailed them asking about it, but never heard back so I'm pretty sure it's safe to say they are gone) in my time, but never seen a staple close.  It hurts me more than a store closing (which I've seen a lot of in my short years in this hobby).

I'm another one who enjoyed their older lines much better.  Still have quite a stack to go through.

Nooooooooooo!  They are my favorite and I will now have to start hoarding even more than I have. :(  Did they say if they will keep their Digi products, because I have a few and I will definitely buy more!

Oh no....I had not heard that news! Shocker!!! Basic Grey has always been one of my favorite companies - I never thought that it would end. I got their monthly kits for several years and was always happy with them. In fact I still have a few that I have been saving.

Re: Another one bites the dust (WAH!)
I am sad to see them go too.  Like most of you, I loved their early lines but haven't seemed to like their newer ones.  Plumeria was the last line that I bought, and I am still hoarding it, along with some of their old (like Indian Summer) and really old (like Two Scoops) lines.  I did love and use up a lot of BG collections over the years, including Kioshi, Wisteria, Porcelain, Cappella, Eva, and Periphery.  In fact, in the past year I just finished off my Eva, Lemonade, Porcelain, and Cappella stash with these layouts.  Some of the BG lines are just timeless and they will be missed!
