That it is the gateway to Christmas and winter. From Thanksgiving to Christmas all the excitement and family and friends and then the quiet at home in front of the fire time of the year.

I'd like to say "family" here but we're not all able to be together for Thanksgiving, so I'll say the leftovers. This year it's just my hubby and I, and we're foregoing the turkey. Hubb's want lasagna. I'm ok with that since I like leftover lasagna too.

I genuinely enjoy cooking on Thanksgiving! I love to design a beautiful tablescape and food spread. I love to serve beautiful eye appealing platters of of food and yummy cocktails and desserts for my family.

Doing all the crafty things.
The laughter and reminiscing that seems to supersede all other activities including eating. Having family together is the very best.

My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is friends and family. We have two Thanksgivings each year. We have Friendsgiving and then our traditional family Thanksgiving celebration. I love the tact that we can be focused on the things we are thankful for, we can take a day to be with the people we love and of course the food!

My favorite thing about Thanksgiving for the last few years is going out to eat. I just can't do all that cooking anymore. We go to our favorite restaurant with my son and his wife, my niece and her husband and their daughter. Can't beat that! Then we come back to my house for dessert and coffee.

I think my favorite thing is really just taking a moment while we are all at the table and just being really present and thanking God for each one of them... being together without the pressure of the gifts. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because there is no pressure just gratitude.

I love the gatherings and the food! Our community has a potluck feast at the school so we go there Thanksgiving day and then usually some of our family comes over on the ferry on Friday and I make a full Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday and then they leave early Sunday or Monday morning. Plus it means Christmas is almost here!!!

I love the whole long weekend. Getting the whole family together, including my sister that I only see a couple times a year. Everyone teenager and older has gotten a dish assigned to them over the years and we all work together. Then shopping the day after, and going to see the lights at the botanical gardens. This will be the first year one of my kids won't be here though, so that is a little rough.

Being with my family, and watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade. It will be very different for us this year with mom gone. This may sound weird but we are making it special as we are doing a "potluck" Thanksgiving where we are all going to cook and bring something to mom's house and have a big Thanksgiving dinner there. I am cooking the turkey, and DD, my son-in-law, my sister, my nephew and his wife are all going to cook sides and other food and we are going to have a big feast. One more last family gathering at mom's house, which has been the hub of almost all the holidays. Thanksgiving has been different the last few years as I always hosted until DH passed. I have not made a turkey since so this will be the first time I am making a Thanksgiving turkey again.

My favorite think about Thanksgiving, I cook a big breakfast with just my kids and grandkids. Everyone just hanging out in our PJ's.
We do the big family Thanksgiving early, ours is this Saturday. So we still get together without to much fuss.
