So they say that rules were meant to be broken. Lol. Well sometimes that is true. In graphic design, we are taught a lot about typography… rules about not mixing too many fonts, what fonts mix well together and which ones don't, and how not to use too many different fonts on one project. But sometimes for the sake of a particular design you can have some fun with breaking a rule. Such is the rule of mixing fonts. In the case of emphasizing certain words in copy, some words will be set in completely different fonts to make them stand out. It can be done subtly by just substituting some of the words in the copy with a script typeface, or it can be done wild and crazy by substituting some of the words with a bunch of different fonts that you would normally never think of putting together in a million years.
I was in a restaurant a few years back and they had a pamphlet on the table, and the minute I saw it a graphic design challenge came to mind. I took a pic of it and it's not a very good one, but it gets the idea across. The emphasized words were changed to script right within the copy, and I loved the effect.

I have been looking around the web to find some more examples of this, and have found some. (And yes this was what sparked my National Pizza Month challenge lol. I was looking on the web to see if I could somehow get a better pic of the pamphlet. That didn't happen, but I found out all about National Pizza Month that way lol.)

So my challenge to you this month is to use this idea in your journaling. Yes Cherries you HAVE to journal this month. You must chose some keywords in your journaling and then change the font, lettering, or style of those words to emphasize them. This MUST be done in your journaling, doing it in your title will not count! It doesn't have to be a lot of journaling, a line or two is fine. As long as you emphasize some of the words by changing their style.
Note:
*If you set your journaling on a computer then you can use different fonts, styles, and sizes and/or colors.
*If you write your journaling by hand then change it up. Emphasize some of the words as you write them… change the size, the color, the style, the thickness… anything that will make those words stand out from the rest of the words in your journaling. You can even put some word art stickers in there!
And that's it! I hope you all find this inspiring.
Open to paper, digi, hybrid, cards, crafts, or whatever this inspires you to create.
You many put in as many as five submissions.
You may combine with one other challenge that allows combining.
I will be running this challenge for two months. Post your submission to this thread by midnight (whenever midnight is for you) February 29th and a random winner of all participants will receive a $5 ACOT GC from me!
Most all all, have fun! Don't stress on it. Just have a good time!
Here is my page. I decided to go the wild and crazy route with my journaling. I did it digi so I set my journaling in black all in one font, then started changing keywords to some wild and crazy fonts and also changed their colors and sizes. It was really a lot of fun!

Close up of my journaling.
