Hello, Cherry Ladies...

I've recently be motivated to pick up my Journey of Art and Soul album and create more Art Journal Cards inspired by a single word for the day.
And I'm inviting you to join me.  I call these creations "Tiny Canvas" creations because of their size even though my sizing is a bit larger than the traditional AJC.

And since it's Spring Forward for DST this weekend...the word is "Darkness."

Here's how it works.
  • Canvas is 4x6...perfect for printing on standard photo paper
  • Traditional or digital
  • One entry per person
  • Journal or quote about Darkness somewhere within the AJC
  • Extended deadline since I'm jumping in after March began.
  • Post here and in gallery under March AJC
  • Deadline April 15 (tax day!)
Here's my card inspired by Darkness...elements by Tangie Baxter...

Winner chosen at using random pick software...prize is one of my digital AAJ kits suitable for printing and sent via email:

Enjoy and I look forward to being inspired by your creations!

This is great to have an art journal/multi-media challenge!  If you're going to do it each month, you should ask Brandy (blbabe1234) to add it to the monthly master challenge list so lots more can see it!  It's a great idea to expand the challenges beyond cards and scrapbook layouts.

So here is my take though I confess - I did not stick to 4x6 card as all my art journaling (for now) is in a 9x12 sketch book.  I hope that's OK.  I also couldn't post it to the gallery you set up as it wanted it to be listed as a scrapbook layout rather than general arts - not sure what to do there (I'd love to see Heidi and ACOT create a Mixed Media category in the gallery).  Let me know and I am happy to change the category of my gallery post.

Thanks again!

Lisa, the energy expressed in your journal page is perfect for the quote you chose.  I appreciate your comments and ideas and thanks for playing along with this new challenge in mixed media.

I might just do this!  I'm working on a canvas for my kitchen but stalled a bit.  Sounds like fun!

Awesome challenge.   I have been dabbling in mixed media for the past year or so, have lots of supplies but don't do it too much.  I needed this push.  Your card is awesome.
And I am another who would love to see a 'mixed media' option in the gallery also!

And so here's my Art Journal card finished!  I used a #14 Dylusions tag cut to 4x6.  These manila tags take mixed media so well.  Coated with gesso and then different TH distress inks.  Then I used modeling paste and a ray stencil for the sunshine, which I painted yellow with a paint pen once it was dry.
My quote:  "In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present.'    --Francis Bacon

Thanks for this challenge.  It encouraged me to use my mixed media supplies, and it was fun!
