THE WINNERS OF OUR KILL A KIT CHALLENGE ARE lmcgill and jrrah4903
Ladies, I will get your gc to you first thing in the AM! Congratulations!

http://www.acherryontop.com/gallery/211884
You all saw this coming right????   ImageImageImageImage
July 1st- Here we go! You can post your kit photo and start participating anytime- but I will only accept projects until 11:59 pm. Eastern Time August 15th. So the earlier you post your kit photo and get started the better!
I am going to post this idea/challenge early. It will officially "start" July 1st but I want to be able to iron out any questions before the first and be ready to go on the first. And if you all think it is a crazy idea then we can delete it and pretend it never happened...Image
So here is how I am thinking this would work...

Step #1 - Create a kit. There are a number of ways to do this.
Idea #1- If you subscribe to a kit club feel free to use any of those kits (maybe your oldest one you haven't dug into yet??) as the kit you would like to "kill"
Idea #2- Grab a collection kit you purchased (Echo Park collections would work really well for this) and some matching cardstock..or if you bought an entire line from one company-  grab all the coordinating paper, embellishments you bought with some matching cardstock as your kit.
Idea #3- Create a kit from scratch using your stash. Here is a You Tube video of how you can do this.  This is the method I use to create a kit from scratch.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Us_idQkCBY

*In my opinion the best kinds of kits are the ones that do not have a theme so you can be creative and use them for any type of photo*

Step #2- Post a photo of your chosen kit to this thread. The post with your kit photo will sign you up and I will then add your name to the participating cherries list.

Step #3- As you create projects with your kit, edit the post with your kit photo with a link..just the link not the photo, to the projects you created. (If you are new and need help with how to do this- you can PM me.)
Thank you all for the great questions- They are the reason I posted early- so we could iron out any details and structure the challenge so everyone can participate- I really appreciate them! You are all very thoughtful and come up with some good points. Most questions were easily answered on the thread, so the only change I am going to make to the Kill A Kit Challenge is found below. Hope that helps to clarify.ImageImage

In reply to a lot of the questions and to make it easy for everyone to participate....How about we use this as our definition of a kit- For this challenge a kit can be any grouping of scrapbooking products you would like to use up. It should be a  reasonable amount of product- so your kit can't be your whole stash or anything like that and it needs to be able to be photographed all together. Maybe for you , a kit could just be a paper pad and some matching embellishments. I'm not super concerned with what your kit contains...more that you are using up your stash. The ideas above can be used as a starting off point but if you want to change it up, go for it....
And I am not about to stifle anyone's creativity...lol...so if you are scrapping and want to grab something else from your stash to give your project that last perfect touch...that is totally fine with me. As long as the kit you posted a photo of is well represented in your project, I will count it.

You will receive one entry for each project you create with your kit.

You can combine this challenge with any challenge that allows combining. Or will allow you to combine with this challenge.

I will close the challenge August 15th so everyone will have plenty of time to "kill" their kit. And then I will randomly choose two winners to receive a $5 ACOT gift card.
Feel free to post any and all questions to this thread.....We begin July 1st!!!

Here is my kit I am going to kill- Some Crate Paper  (Craft Market and Poolside), some Elle's Studio, some Simple Stories, Partial packs of embellies...not really sure any of the embellies are brand new I think they are all partial packs....well, until July first when I am ordering a little more of the Crate Paper and I'm sure will use it with the kit...lol) Hope this helps you all out too.

Oh my gosh, Sara....I am so excited about this.  I used to belong to so many kits but they all went out of business.  I recently signed up for one (after seeing so many people posting in the gallery using this particular kit club) but I'm afraid to use anything from the kit because it's all so PRETTY!!  This is the push I need.  I am looking forward to the upcoming three day weekend and plan to scrap, scrap, scrap!!!

Yay!  I was actually inspired to do this by your other threads, and I started pulling photos to go with one of my kits already!  Question:  you say take a photo of the kit...mine was a paper stack with built-in coordinating embellies/punch outs.  Can I just take a photo of the front or do I need to take it all out and spread it on the table?  Just wondering. :)  Also, as you go along making your layouts, can you grab other embellies to add that go?  Or can you only use the things in the kit?

You can submit entries until you have used up the kit you posted the photo of...No limit.....I will accept as many projects as you can create with the kit.

No need to make a mess..lol. A photo of the front of the stack works for me. And ,yes, you can grab other embellies as you work through your kit. I keep the kit I'm trying to use up front and center on my scrap desk..but as I use it I often grab embellies / alphas/even cardstock from my stash if a layout needs it. I think it would be a good idea to say that when I look at the layout, I should be able to tell that you used some of the kit you created and posted a photo of..but not exclusively those items.
Sound good?

Very nice idea----this is why I was asking about kit clubs, because I have used the majority of them up!!
But now I have watched the video and I think I can make a kit from my own stuff.  I guess all I would need to add are some sketches!!

Count me in!

I love killing my kits. Haven't subscribed to any for over a couple years, but I recently bought some from a kit club that was having a sale. Image

Love this idea! Looking forward to it. I'll be using the video to make my own themed kit and hoping to knock out a lot of LO's for our Universal Orlando album!!
OK, kit all pulled from my stash, including many new 12x12 themed papers that I purchased from scrap your trip last week. I will be creating LO's from pics of our trip to HP World Universal Orlando. I included the stack of photos in my kit pic.

Just thought of a question, can we kill more than 1 kit?

That is a great question. Let's keep it to one kit..and if it all works well, we will do it again from Aug. 15th through October 1st.

I'm in! Now to go pick the kit I want to kill...

I dug through my Iris containers and chose my July 2014 (Kit Club) kit to kill. Also included in the Iris container were Webester's Pages Nest Collection Pack and Bo Bunny's Lemonade Stand Collection Pack. My plan is to kill as much of this large kit as possible.

Image
Note: This is just my kit club kit. The collection packs are in my gallery with this image.

Layouts:

1. MN Lillies
2. Fix it Up
3. Foyer
4. My Life, My Studio, My Dream
5. Living Room
6. TV Space
7. Freedom to Paint
8. Summer Lovin
9. Yum Zone
10. Zac's Stuff
11. Sweet Dreams
12. Kitchen

this is perfect!  however, I went through a phase where I joined a kit club but they were themed and one or two pages consisted of the kit...  so, I have to see if I have something bigger, like a Manufacterer kit that I got here; I know I have plenty, just need to find one that has plenty of pages to do!  thanks for this terrific challenge!

Question :) I want to play but I am currently in Chicago (I live in TN) with some of my students for National FBLA Competition. I do not get back home until July 3rd. So I can't post a kit my July 1, can I still participate?

OMG! This came at the perfect time!! I was just thinking about putting a kit together to make it easier to get things done. I am going to pull together a kit from my stash.  Are there any parameters with regards to how big the kit should be?

No..it can be small or large..you can decide..BUT you have to be able to post a photo of it..so it can't be your whole stash or anything like that...lol
