First a reminder that my May Graphic Design Challenge is still open until June 8th at 11:59pm!
For June, it's going to be all about the ampersand. An ampersand is the symbol for the word "and". I love using an ampersand in fun and different ways, and I love seeing how other designers incorporate it into their designs. It can be used much larger than the rest of the text, it can appear behind the text, it can be smaller than the rest of the text, it can be a different color, and many times a completely different font. Here are some samples of graphic designs where the ampersand is used in an artistic way and is treated differently than the rest of the text...
So my challenge to you this month is that your title must contain an ampersand, and the ampersand must not be like the rest of the text in your title. You must use it in a fun and different way. Make it larger or smaller than the rest of your title, and get artistic with it. Use the samples above for inspiration!
Open to paper, digi, hybrid, cards, crafts, or whatever this inspires you to create.
May be combined with one other challenge if that challenge allows it.
Please post to this thread and the "June Graphic Design" section in the gallery by June 30th at 11:59pm. I will choose a random winner that will receive a $5 ACOT gift card from me!
Here is my page:

oh no! I just submitted a layout using an ampersand....wood veneer that I inked but it already went into two other challenges!
WAIT!! I have two of the same photo (one for DS's album and one for mine) I can use the symbol again!!! But that was the only wood one I had. It's all good now.

AWESOME challenge! I did a wedding layout back in April that featured a larger than life ampersand!
Great layout too Barb!

Ampersand is a new term for me. Not sure I am understanding this. Anyone explain in more detail please?

OMG, I looked at the pics again and saw what they had in common and gotta say I NEVER knew what that "and" sign was called, LOL! That is what your referring to??? Boy do I feel stupid~~~~
Debbie
Great challenge, Barb. I have the photos and title all planned but scrap room (and entire second floor) is undergoing renovation. I am really hoping to get back in before I loose my thoughts and mojo!

Don't feel bad Debbie! I should have mentioned that an ampersand is the symbol for the word "and".

Great challenge, I had a title in mind the other day with an ampersand in it.

NEVER too old! I remember that I learned it from watching Wheel of Fortune growing up. Sometimes in long puzzles they use an ampersand instead of spelling out the "and" and I never understood what it all meant, until I kept seeing it often enough and figured it out. TV is good for something huh?!
Oh, and I read an article once about it on dictionary.com, as to why it's called that. IF you're interested in literary things and word etiology.

LOL! I learned the word "ampersand" from Wheel of Fortune, too. They would always put it up first; same for other stuff like a hyphen (dash)! I think I noticed it more when I was a kid, because Pat had to ask Vanna to "turn" the ampersand, and all the letters back then.
