Fall is in the air!  The weather is changing, school is back in full swing, and the ACOT Creative Team Members have been busy coming up with some new challenges for you.  Hopefully, you can find some that will inspire you to go scrap!
AD INSPIRATION CHALLENGE by MamaK321 (Kristianne)

I thought this ad would be especially fitting for this month!  I can't wait to see what you girls create with it.

Inspiration:  the act of influencing or suggesting opinions : to draw forth or bring out : an inspiring agent or influence

Ad inspiration is like a step up from sketches.  There is a basic sketch that you can pull out and use on your own layout but there are also a few other pieces to take inspiration from, such as colors, patterns, title or keywords, theme, font styles, and element placement.  You can copy a design straight from the ad or you can alter a design to fit your own layout.  Most ads are 8.5x11" but you can adapt the design to fit any size.  Remember, this is not a sketch and you are not required to follow every detail. The key is to really LOOK at the ad and find the pieces that INSPIRE you!

MAKE IT A DIGI DOUBLE, PLEASE by FairyMouseMom (Egle)

For this month’s challenge, I would like you to create a layout that has the following on it:

1. use a “teacher” theme that includes journaling or a quote on this theme
2. use the color red somewhere

Since October 5th is “World Teacher Day,” this challenge will encompass a “teacher” theme.  Since not all of us have children or grandchildren, you can use “teaching” as a theme on your layout.  What have you taught someone….or what have you learned?  Take the opportunity to share that with us in your layout.

Origin of World Teacher Day:
World Teachers' Day was initiated by the Director-General of UNESCO, Federico Mayor, at the International Conference on Education in Geneva in 1993.

On October 5, 1966, a UNESCO and the International Labour Organisation  conference adopted a special recommendation on Teachers. The date of this event was selected as the date to annually honor and recognize teachers around the world.

Teachers deserve a little recognition, and some thanks and appreciation. Aside from parents and direct family, who else has as much influence on the hearts and minds of a child... your child? Teachers not only educate, but they help to shape and frame your child's beliefs, values, and behaviors.

Here are some quotes to get you thinking / started:
The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called "truth."  ~Dan Rather
Teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions.  ~Author Unknown
A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.  ~Henry Brooks Adams

THEME CHALLENGE by Laura Fiore (Laura)

Do you have an amazing woman in your life?  We all do...someone who has taught us, loved us, set a great example for us, made a difference in our life just by being who she is?  October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and as such, we should pay attention and honor the women in our lives. So for our theme challenge this month, that is exactly what we will do!

Show us a layout telling us about an Amazing Woman in your life!

TIE ONE ON CHALLENGE by CamsMomma (Jackie)

In digital scrapbooking you don't actually have to adhere things to a page.  While most kits have assorted fasteners (staples, brads, eyelets, clips, pins, tape and stitches).  I LOVE them and think they add realistic touches to our layouts even though we don't actually need them.
This month I challenge you to use your fasteners in a creative unconventional way.  Use them to make patterns or swirls.  Create arrows, letters or borders.  Use them as all types of decorative accents, just don't use them to only hold something down.

*Paper scrappers can also create a layout for this challenge and share how you use your functional elements as decorative accents in unconventional ways.

USE UP YOUR STASH CHALLENGE by katarria (Kathy)

I went to put away some chipboard the other day and realized that I couldn’t quite close the drawer I keep it in.  Somehow I’ve hoarded so much chipboard that I don’t even have storage space for it!  Of course, that won’t stop me from buying more.  I’ll admit it – I have an obsession with chipboard.  This month I want to see you using chipboard on your layouts! However, for this challenge it’s got to be chipboard shapes. You can use stars, hearts, flowers, flourishes, etc…as long as you’re not using letters or numbers!

I have a question...for the Stash Challenge.  Does cutting a scalloped edge to chipboard and using it as album's cover count?  I made a baby album and used chipboard for the cover, scalloped the edges, but not sure if I can use it for the challenge.  For the Supply List Challenge.  Does it have to be a LO?  How about something altered?  Does that count?Thanks..

Just added a few of my challenges to the gallery.  But I'm not sure if they count. Let me know, so I can remove them if they don't qualify.

The Random Challenge did not accept my digital layout as a submission, but in the rules is says it could be Paper or Digital!!  Yikes!!  Which is correct?  I've gone ahead and uploaded it, but I didn't get to submit it as part of the actual challenge!  Please assist!!  Thank you!Elise

I am new to all of this - contests, challenges, digi scrapping, the whole ball of wax.  I entered a few of the contests and was just wondering - when are the winners announced?  From what I have seen, everyone that entered did a great job.  I am truly loving this.

Kathryn, the winners are "picked" through a random number generator for ACOT points.  That is how challenges work here.  Since the galleries for these challenges are now closed....I need to go and update my list with who submitted what.  Once I have that done...and the random numbers are drawn...I will leave a thread announcing the winners!  THANKS for playing along with us!
