March Double Page Challenge - Part 2 **EDITED**
3/13/25 - I am editing this post because some of you have been having issues with the cuts being on the diagonal.  I probably should've told you in Step 1 that it would be best to choose smaller prints or non-directional patterns for this.  Although I think words going diagonally in the background would look ok, if you really don't like the way your papers look when placed diagonally, you can choose another sheet of paper (hopefully still double-sided, but I won't check 😉 )

Happy Saturday morning! I'm so happy to see so many of you playing along and such fun papers you've all chosen!

So, here's the main part of the challenge.  Stinkerbelle (Stacy) sent me a link to some of these 1-2-3 Sketch & Layout videos by Noreen Smith, a Creative Memories consultant.  I picked this one from April 2020 because of the triangles (the "three" theme, get it?):  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-Vejg7J0-w
In the video, she gives a cutting guide, and sketch options.  I'll post them here for easier reference.

Sketch options: Disregard the cutting guide on the right side - it appears to be from the previous month

For Part 2 of the challenge, please cut your patterned paper and adhere it in one of the 2 options provided here, then add your photos. You do not have to follow the sketch exactly for photo placement, but it should be somewhat along these lines. You can see at the end of the video, Noreen shows how you can make 2 single pages instead of a double.

Here is mine:

Feel free to add any splatters or stenciling to the background cardstock if you wish. You may ink or distress your edges (the inking might be nice if your scissors-cut isn't exact).  You do not have to mat your photos.  Do not add any embellishments, journaling, or title yet. That'll come in Step 3.
Post your projects here by March 21 to be eligible for an extra draw for a prize.

I had a minor mishap, as I forgot to flip my second patterned paper triangle, before cutting, which is why I ended up with two small triangles with suns, and two large pieces of grid pattern.

I’m very much okay with it, but I thought I’d give a heads up, in case others doesn’t want to make the same mistake as me.

I hope it’s okay with hsblair??

Re: March Double Page Challenge - Part 2
I am going to need a ton of journaling so I only chose 5 photos, figuring I would type up the journaling and put it in place of a photo. Is that going to be feasible here? Can I just leave one photo out in the hope of doing this later?

Don't ask how but somehow I managed to make one of the cuts wrong...lol
I had to piece it back together to cut it correctly...

Totally fine!  I can see your cuts.
Thanks for the heads up!

Yes, that’s fine. You can see I also left out a section the size of half a photo, and Noreen substituted a cut apart card/title for her square photo, so there’s plenty of flexibility here!

I wasn’t sure how the triangles would turn out on a 8 x 11, but this is a fun chevron pattern!

i was worried i was going to screw up my one piece of paper so i practiced with copy paper first lol.  i did an 8.5" square and cut it at 4" so my triangles are smaller, but i like how it came out.

This is so hilarious!!!!!! I have cut and taped and recut my papers!!! NOT working due to the papers not being good going other directions due to writing and picture on one side. So far, can't tell if I am able to salvage it.
Note: I think the papers needed to be geometric or basically having patterns that went in different directions. Not like Graphic 45 pp like I chose. But making it work!!!

I'm sorry the diagonal cut isn't working with your papers.  Go ahead and pick 2 other papers if you want.  I should've specified that a non-directional pattern would work best.  I have seen designers work with papers such as Graphic 45 with patterns/text going in all directions, however, and I thought that a messy thrown-together look might be interesting too.  I'm going to edit my OP now.

I also picked a directional paper but I had already decided what to do with it before you posted the update.  I mirror imaged the sketch to make the directional parts look more normal. I also have this black stripe on one side, I guess I didn't cut one piece exactly right, but I think it looks fine so far.

I also used deckle scissors on the mat on one photo because the original was like that. Not sure I like how it looks but I'm sticking with it.
