winter Progressive Challenge - Step 4
First of all, don't worry. You still have until midnight tonight to complete step 3. It is just easier for me to post this today and it won't affect things if you look ahead on this step only.

Here, we are going to do something completely different.  Put your layout aside for now.

1. Make a card using:
  • one or more papers from the same collection as your background and/or one or more papers from the same collection a a paper you used in step 3
  • the stamp, stencil, or both from step 1
  • only inks, pens, etc that you used in a step 2
  • up to 3 embellishments (at least 1)
2. give or mail the card to another cherry friend or other crafting friend

Rules:
  1. Open to cards, can be any theme or subject you would like
  2. May be combined with one other challenge (separate from the final step)
  3. Do not add or do anything other than what is listed here,
  4. This card is due next Thursday Feb 6  at midnight, post an image of it to this thread
  5. You must give or mail the card by the end of February. Please post again on this thread letting me know it has been given/mailed. I don't need to know who it went to.
  6. If you have been working digitally, you must print things out for this step so you have an actual card
  7. Each step completed on time will get you one entry. One randomly selected winner will receive an ACOT $5 GC. If there is a lot of participation, there may be a second winner. Only people who complete step 5 will be eligible, but if you are late on an earlier step you are still eligible, you just won't get credit for that step.
  8. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, ASK ON THIS THREAD!
I hope you have fun!

This is a really cute idea, but being that I'm not really a card maker to begin with, AND my layout and stamp set is completely Christmas-themed, I think I am going to skip this step.  I don't want to mail someone a Christmas card in February... I hope I will still be eligible to go on to Step 5?

The background piece I used is literally the last piece of paper from this collection! I do have some scraps from the patterned paper collection. Can I use a different (plain cardstock of similar shade) for the card? TIA

Lol!!  I'm doing a themed "day of the dead" layout!!!  Can you see their faces getting one for that?

Actually  I'm going to use a paper from the collection like she says, and see if I can tweak it into a birthday card  or something else (definitely NOT a sympathy card, either, lol)  .   Come on, try it, we' ll at the least have a funny card!!

Hmmm... at first this seemed impossible since I'm not really sure what collections the papers I used were from. The base is an old Simple Stories solid, not from an identifiable collection. And the rest of the papers I used were from the scrap pile. But if I can call the scrap pile my 'collection' and find Simple Stories papers from there, it's not hard at all. I'll see what I can come up with.
Cheers, Lydia

I'm thinking outside the box--Your star stencil would work well for a birthday card, congrats, or thinking of a special friend. The red and green plaid could easily work for the background panel. You can use the words from your stamp by cutting them apart to form new words, singular letters, or combine with hand drawn words. The larger words NICE and HO could be used like monograms.

Or, if you are sending to a crafty friend, just make a Christmas card and explain on the inside of the card: I'm playing in an ACOT challenge and thought of you--you understand making Christmas cards in February, like the rest of us crafty BFF.

Have fun with it!

Can I use a white card base?

Yes, but it shouldn’t be the primary focus

Yes, but you should definitely use some of those scraps from the patterned paper collection

That seems fine, just do your best to match the collection in whatever way that means to you

I used scraps from the same collection that the paw print paper came from. Used stamp set to stamp the "stay pawsitive" with black ink. Added 2 little pink paw prints

I combined this with the February Card Challenge.  The same items are the black cardstock, stencil, stencil butter, arrow stamp, white ink hearts and thin washi tape on the red banner.  I added other washi tape and stickers from the same collection (49 and Market Spectrum Gardenia), rhinestones, and sentiment with different ink because the white just wouldn't show up on the black cardstock well enough.  I had to use a different piece of red paper because I had used a scrap for the layout and didn't have any more but it's almost the exact same color.  Hope all this is okay!

Re: winter Progressive Challenge - Step 4
Here is mine for step 4.

I used the same paper that I backed the photos with for the base.  I used papers from Echo Park's Let's Create, same as on my layout.  I used three of the embellishments from the kit.  I chose to just use the stamp.  I stamped the same sentiment with the same ink on this card as on the layout.  I plan on mailing tomorrow to the lady who planned our first craft day at church, as a thank you.  I actually started the card there on Saturday.  I wouldn't have thought of this card without you challenging us to use the same stuff!  So perfect. Thank you.

Not a big card maker but thanks for the fun challenge. I’ll be mailing this on Monday to my crafty friend who is getting a temp promotion in her job.

I was using 49 and Market Wherever line...I used the same stamp and ink. I also used the same kind of brown craft paper. I'm putting it in my husbands lunch bag tomorrow to leave a little travel hint!
