I'm listening to the debate tonight and something is being said that drives me insane. What's being said is, "We want them to win and come home heroes!" Winning the war makes it seem as if we did right - but losing a war doesn't mean the troops didn't do their best. I'm sick and tired of the idea that I'm only going to be standing outside those busses as our local boys and girls come from war, thanking them for giving it their all and for being heroes if we WIN! I'll be out there saying the exact same thing thing if the troops lose because they DID do their best and even if we lost, they're heroes for going over and doing their best to better life for us all. Especially when we had no business in Iraq and they still went and gave it all they had - they'll always be my heroes....same as my Dad was in WWII and my dh was in Vietnam. Going and fighting makes each and every one of them a hero.

As with all things political, Jean or someone, would you please move this to the Debate forum so that all of the political threads could stay in one place?
It would help us all so much. Thank you.

Being fairly new to the MB what does that mean exactly. If I go to post a message, I'll find the appropriate topic but doesn't it still show up on the main board ? Sorry that message was confusing.Themom wrote: As with all things political, Jean or someone, would you please move this to the Debate forum so that all of the political threads could stay in one place?

Michele - M'Lee wants it posted under General Debate rather than under General Talk or Scrapbooking Talk. *I'm* not going to be the one who changes it - I was saying that, win or lose, each and every person who has ever fought for our country is a hero to me. Politics gets us into wars - holding those who are in the service in high esteem isn't political.
I wonder, sometimes, if we ever give God a headache.
What I am about to say is probably why M'Lee wants this moved.
Jean said,"I'll be out there saying the exact same thing thing if the troops lose because they DID do their best and even if we lost, they're heroes for going over and doing their best to better life for us all."
Our troops did NOT lose this war. This war was lost before our 1st soldier set foot over there.
Heroes---DEFINITELY!

Rosa sat so that Martin could walk. Martin walked so that Barack could run. Barack ran so that our children could fly.
I agree...anyone who joins the service and fights for our freedom is a hero. For the newbies, the reason this might be in General Debate is because then, those who don't want to debate can see it and not open the thread. It keeps those who have trouble with a healthy exchange of ideas out of it, because they can choose not to read it and get their blood boiling.

Most touchy subjects that can lead to a debate end up being posted in the debate section. They will still be visible to all users and will appear in the recent topics section.
While I agree 100% with the fact that our troops are heroes, this was posted in the scrapbooking talk and it has nothing to do with the subject. And, while I also agree completely with Nene's statement about the war already being lost, there are others that might debate that statement. That is why it was suggested the topic be moved.

To me "winning" over there would involve setting the county up for what they want, if they want elections ok, we can help with that, but it needs to be what's good for the contry. The media tends to focus more on the negative than the postive, but we all know that Also, it would mean not sending troops back over there. I don't want my kids to fight that fight.
Nene - Thanks for reminding us of that - you're totally right, of course!
