Concerns about Hillary (for Dems or more liberal indies)
Glo, Obama isn't a Muslim.  He's a Christian.  He may have attended a school but he worships Jesus.    Whoever started that rumor never read his book.   I also don't put my hand over my heart during the pledge or during the Banner.  To me it is worshiping a false idol (my own interpretation) but I'm very patriotic.  I work every election, write letters and editorials (with a spell checker) to elected officials and news papers and even blog. MN  Bonnie. Welcome.  I voted for Goldwater for Senator even though I was a registered Democrat.  I too believe in fiscal responsibility but that can be done by not wasting funds on garbage earmarks so social programs like healthcare for kids can be funded.  Working in public health I see first hand what happens when social programs are cut.  Iam starting to ike Chris Dodd and two years ago would have considered McCain if he hadn't started licking Bush's shoes.  I very much think we need a third party and public funded elections so the right people run and not just those who can buy them.

I'm very disappointed that there's not more discussion on the Jr/Tania ticket.  If our friends don't vote for us, who will?  I agree with this statement: "You're supposed to be focused on the people from the party you identify with in terms of whether or not they'd make a good nominee."  I really wish this was how it worked.  I hate political ads and negative campaigns.  I just want to know what you stand for, not what you hate about everyone else.I'm very conservative, and I don't see a single person on either ticket that I can fully support.  Unfortunately, conservatism is on the outs these days, and everyone wants to walk the fence on things that matter most to me.  I still have no clue who I'll vote for, though I can guarantee it will be someone who agrees with me on the military, marriage, and health care.  I would say those are the top 3 topics for me.  Well, those plus someone who will not support the anti-Christian bigotry that abounds these days.

Actually, Hillary is starting to grow on me. I really do think the things she saw happening during Bill's tenure gives her a leg up on the rest of the pack. Obama is way too inexperienced. Edwards and Obama are not gonna get the nomination by beating up on Hillary. That will backfire big time.Furthermore, Obama's views on social programs bothers me. His years as a neighborhood organizer and his wife's views on social programs sounds a lot like an expanded affirmative action program. I do not believe in affirmative action -- everyone should be able to compete for the top positions in schools and the work place. JMHO

for any of you who are Republican, please, please ,please, please do not cast your vote for Huckabee.  In case you have not heard of him, or are not familiar with im, he is the former governor of Arkansas who thinks he is the next Bill Clinton.  I have lived here all my life and have seen some pretty hard time here in the last 11 years that he has been governor.  Long story about how he first became governor.  He seemed to always wanting to be raising taxes.  He is a Baptis preacher.  He has pushed his values down our throats to the point that our new governor has undone some of the stuff that he messed up.  He has taken a lot of the holidays away from the state employees that they had off for years before he came along.  I could go on all night long if you would let me.  I did not give him my vote when he was running for governor and I am sure not going to give him my vote for president.  I do not know who I am going to vote for when the time comes for our new president, but is there any candidate who will get us out of Iraq???  I want that one.  We also need one who thinks more of our children than Bush does, one who will think more of our seniors than Bush does, and one who will think more of protecting our citizens and doing the proper thing with the illegal immigrants--wherever they are from.  Those are some of the thing that are important to me.  I would also like to see one who respects our veterans.
