BBC America show last night (4/2)
This IS in General Debate because it's a bit gross.

Don't read if you're easily offended.

Last night we were channel surfing at 9pm (eastern time) Saw a show advertised on BBC America on Perfect Private Parts (I kid you not - go to BBC America and plug in the date of 4/2/09 and at  9Pm you'll see this

[tableo border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="fck__showtableborders" width="681"][/tableo][tbodyo][/tbodyo][tro][/tro][tdo][/tdo][tableo border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="fck__showtableborders" width="681"][/tableo][tbodyo][/tbodyo][tro][/tro][tdo height="20" width="125"][/tdo]9:00 PM[tdo height="20" width="375"][/tdo]Perfect Private Parts - Perfect Private Parts[tdo height="20" width="50"][/tdo][tdo height="20" width="2"][/tdo][tdo height="20" width="50"][/tdo][tdo height="20" width="20"][/tdo][tdo height="20" width="59"][/tdo]TV-MA[tro][/tro][tdo][/tdo][tableo border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="fck__showtableborders" width="681"][/tableo][tbodyo][/tbodyo][tro][/tro][tdo width="125"][/tdo] [tdo][/tdo]How far will women go to achieve perfection for a body part that not many people will ever see? A journalist meets with sex therapists, plastic surgeons and patients to understand why girls as young as sixteen are requesting cosmetic vaginal surgeries.Anyway, there are women out there having cosmetic vaginal surgeries.

WHY?

How many woman actually check out their friends 'parts'?
WHY???

I don't think they are doing it for their friends.  I would guess that either (1) they are having their viginity reconstructed or (2) they are getting made tighter for their boyfriends pleasure.

 They said hormones, pregnancy, childbirth

But some of these girls are young.

Said that skin hangs over the sides of their bikini bottoms.

Well gee, I guess if I got a bikini bottom that had only a one inch wide crotch I would have some skin hanging over, too!  Sheesh!!  Complain to the bikini manufacturers!!!  Spend your money on a sewing machine and fabric and make your own bikini with a wide enough crotch!!  It's not that hard!!!  I made my own swimsuit when I was in high school.

They did an episode like this on one of the talk show.  One procedure included putting collegen injections on the "G" spot at the cost of $3000 every three months. They are also tightening the vaginal walls etc.  I guess the rich have no other way to waste their money.

Not to say that what these young girls are doing is ok but after several months of personally looking there for me after being diagnosed with a prolapsed bladder and prolapsed rectum I can understand why a woman would be concerned, to a point.
I had my rectum pushing into my vaginal wall and pushing out the opening. Sex was painful not to mention the look of it. I had repair surgery two weeks ago and have had problems since, still early but I hope it gets better. After really looking down there myself things don't look the same after 3 kids and it's definitly stretched out.
I will probably never have any sort of procedure nor do I advocate it but I understand now why someone would. I guess it really depends on how bad the issue is for these girls.

I agree if it's just she doesn't think it looks good. Did you watch the show? I'm curious on what their view is and what the reality is.

There is another show called Dr. 90210 that has had several women that have had reconstruction there and I would like to watch this one on BBC to see just what they said these girls reasons were. Like is it a deformity issue or are they comparing themselves to someone else and thinking they are not normal. I guess that is more what I'm thinking.

Something else that popped into my mind. No matter what is done to that area it's not the prettiest thing on our bodies is it. Not that a man is that great either right? LOL!

I know too many people that are really messed up in other physical ways for this to be much of a concern to me.  Why would their parents pay for something like this and are the girls getting any kind of supervision?  Why are they concerned about that for starters?  I just wish that I could look like I did when I was 16 yrs old.  I am 58 now and I need surgery-not just down there, but EVERYWHERE!!!!!

Re: BBC America show last night (4/2)
Actually, I did see just the last part of that documentary.  One of the younger girls (was probably in her 20's) had it becasue sexual partners had made fun of and ridiculed her for the lip size issue.  She was completely unwilling to be intimate with anyone becasue of the fear of rejection.  Several of the other women were Muslim women who had lost their virginity or had broken their hymen by horseback riding or some other way and were having hymen reconstruction because they were getting married.  Apparently, if they do not bleed on their wedding night they are rejected and ostracized by their own family.  SO SAD.

There was part I found very funny, though.  The documentary host went with her friend to a "love your vagina" group.  I cannot begin to describe what they did there :greenwinkb:  You would've had some good laughs, Flap!

Maybe they shouldn't wear bikini bottoms that are too small.  :winkb:
