Also, I believe a baby or fetus is a whole seperate being so to say it is the woman's body doesn't fly by me either. Besides, suicide is against the law, and murdering another person is against the law- so..... yeah... anyway...I am gonna have to stay out of this thread now! LOL

I am one of those that voted yes so I feel like I must defend my reason.

Me personally, it will NEVER be an option for a form of birth control or lapsidaisical lifestyle (although i am married now).  However, it is not my right nor anyone elses to determine whether or not another woman (say someone who has no faith and doesn't believe its wrong) should be allowed to do it.  Some people don't have a faith, some people don't have morals and ethics to which they live by and those are typically the ones who do it.  I once knew a woman that used it as a form of birth control.  When she decided she was ready to be a mother (after she was married) she was completely unable to conceive and I think it was karmic debt.

However, it should be no ones right especially the governments to determine whether I can do something with my own body.  I feel the same way about other civil issues such as gay marriage.  Since when is it anyone else right to determine whether or not a person can have a civil union....just because this country was founded on christian beliefs doesn't mena everyone shares those beliefs.

ITA. While I am not for abortion, I feel that the government should not be involved.

Re: S/O supreme Court thread: Abortion
I voted that it should be regulated to an extent...this is why...

1. too many use it as a form of birth control
2. do YOU really want to raise a baby that was conceived through incest or rape? what is going to go through your mind everytime you look at that baby?
3. there are alot of people out there that are NOT educated for whatever reason and if they do not have the means or mentality to raise a child should that child be brought into this world and placed into foster care for years and years or that mother live off of the system becuase she knows nothing else?
4. how many babies are born to crack/drug addicted mothers and are those children REALLY being cared for and adopted into good families?

and even though I think it is a woman's choice and I will never fault somebody for making that decision because there are alot of intelligent people out there and they KNOW that it is not the right time for them to raise a child~but I do believe it shoul dnot be the mother's SOLE choice especially if she knows who the biological father is...I think he should have just as much say if they are in a situation were they are on amicable terms...

alot of my reason for this is how many children get lost in the system?and even though there are TONS of people out there willing to adopt, how many are willing to adopt children with Down's, drug addicted children, etc....
even if you couldn't afford to raise a child, if you have ever held a child after birth, do you think it would be an easy choice for you to give that child up even though you KNOW you don't have the means to raise it? so I believe for some people it is an easier decision to live with an abortion than possibly an adoption...

ok...ducking now....

Re: S/O supreme Court thread: Abortion
Abortion should NEVER be used as a form of birth control, but it amazes me how many people say I would NEVER have an abortion. What if you are sitting in your first ultrasound with a much WANTED pregnancy and you are told by your doctors that your baby will never survive and won't make it to birth because of a severe chromosomal defect or other poor prenatal diagnosis, but the heart would stop at some point maybe in a week or three months. What do you do?? Wait it out and have complete strangers ask you when you're due as you begin to get bigger and bigger the whole time knowing your baby is dying inside of you? Or do you make the devastating, heart wrenching choice to end your pregnancy (that is going to end anyway) to help yourself and your family grieve and move forward from the devasting news you just received.

I just can't believe anyone (especially fellow women) would think that allowing someone else to make laws that no longer allows us to make decisions that effect our lives and bodies is okay. I feel very strongly about this and I try to avoid talking about it because I get very worked up about it, but trust me...you have no idea what the women in your life have been through because most don't talk about it freely...but try to stop and put yourself in her shoes!! You may have a dear friend that's been faced with a decision that she NEVER thought she would face...she may have even once said...I would NEVER have an abortion! Just something to think about!

I voted other because I believe this issue is not the black and white, yes or no issue the way most people treat it to be.

I am Pro Choice but Anti Abortion.
I personally think abortion is wrong and I could never have one. However, that is my opinion and I do not feel I have the right to tell someone else that they cant have one. Its a personal choice
