with a V."That's what dh said to me this morning. I thought for a minute and knew it was a vacuum! So, I said to him..."It better not be a vacuum." He said, "Well, we need one!" I said, "Then that can be YOUR Christmas present!" Granted, we need a new one but it darn well better not be MY Christmas present! I now know the importance of supplying him with a detailed list. I think I am going to be doing some online shopping for myself today. Just in case!

Kinda like that new range I got last year for Christmas. Don't tell him, but our old one was much better. I need a new vacuum too, but I know that will probably be for Mother's day....

I'm sorry for laughing but that was one of the first ground rules I set down when first married in the 60's. Nothing for the house was acceptable for a gift! So if something was needed for the house we bought the house a present. Like this year it is a new toaster oven from Santa for the House!

Tell him that you personally do not accept gifts 'for the house'. YOUR gifts are for YOU only.

If that's really what he got you, then return what you got him and buy him something for the house that you WANT! That'll teach him!

First birthday after they were married my EX sil got my dd a rice maker.
He emailed me and told me (after the fact) and said, "She cried. Is there anything I should know?" I gave him a list of things that were more appropriate. He still continued to give her plug in stuff. Just one of the many reasons he's an EX

Oh, no - hope it's not a vacuum for your Christmas present! Reminds me of the year my Brother and Sis-in-law (HER idea) gave hubby and I a vacuum cleaner that they had "inherited" for my Christmas present - and we already had one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I was NOT happy, tee hee.

I'm sorry, but household appliances are NOT Christmas presents. If you have to replace something, you do it - not make it a Christmas present instead...

Our gift to each other this year IS a home.I think that the vacuum should be BOTH of your gifts. Even if you're the one that DOES the vacuuming.

I've gotten some doozies in the past. I am quite certain that this year it is pots and pans. It doesn't top the toilet seat or the iron and ironing board. No lie. A toilet seat. Oh, and laundry baskets for my birthday. I love my dh but...
