when you hear someone take the Lord's name in vain? I have a question. At work today, a rep asked another supervisor for a certain product code. That code was "G. D." He told her the code, and then I was joking around more to him than to her and said "Here's your G. D. product code!" (I said G. D., not the actual words.) And she got WICKED pissed! She was sooooo offended! I apologized but she kept going on and on so finally I walked away. So, if you're someone who gets offended when others take the Lord's name in vain, would that have offended you? Be honest, I won't get mad.

I can see that too........I was very sincere when I apologized to her.....the first five times or so. After that, I felt like she was being a bit overbearing about it.

I don't use language like that, but I hear it. I try to just ignore it. I always ignore it if the person using it is not talking to me. If people use it in speaking to me, I generally just pretend they didn't. If it were to get excessive, I'd simply ask them to refrain from that expression during our conversation. But I've never had to do that.

So Kathy, if I somehow perceived that I offended you and apologized, you'd have been a human about it? Novel!

Well, for Pete's sake---I'm sure the Good Lord forgave you WAY before she did! Is she His keeper, or something?See, people like that need to chill the eff out. I would've taken it in the context that you meant it, too.

We don't use language like that either, but I would have thought this was funny. Kind of like a....what's the word....like irony? I also wouldn't have apologized profusely because super-sensitive people like to see you grovel.

It's kinda like "you can take all the dam pictures you want", referring to a hydroelectric dam tour. It makes me , but, I would chuckle, too. You didn't say in anger.
