*Updated - we are home.* Thanks, everyone. Guess I got too worried, too soon. Both my Mom and Dad misunderstood...he didn't get the Inspire implant, yet. Today was just an endoscopy to make sure he was a good candidate for it (he is). Hopefully, he will get the implant next month and it will help! They did a sleep study on him a couple months ago that said he was waking up 35 - 40 times a night! Also, the doc thinks his high blood pressure is partially due to the lack of sleep/oxygen. He apparently has way more red blood cells than he needs (thick blood) and the doc said it just makes sense...his body is trying to produce more oxygen for him. I really hate how long he has had to wait for this! (Also, the drive was easy! There were some back roads I could take so that I was only city driving for about 10 miles, and rush hour was over at that point. )
I am taking my Dad in for a procedure to help with his severe sleep apnea. He tried the CPAP machine and couldn't sleep with it. He is getting an Inspire procedure (I never heard of it...basically an implant that will help keep his airway open when he sleeps.) He is 81 years old, and I just worry, you know? But, he is in good hands. I have to drive him, because my dear 79-year-old Mom caught Covid on the way home from our national sorority convention. She is good...very mild symptoms. She only got tested because of Dad's surgery.
Anyway, send all your good vibes and prayers for my Dad (and for me...I hate driving in the big city, and it's nothing like the really big cities. lol)

Sending tons of good vibes and prayers your Dad's way! I've seen a lot of commercials for Inspire lately. I hope that works out for him. Also sending some good vibes for your Mom. I hope she starts feeling better soon!Art_Teacher wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:24 amI am taking my Dad in for a procedure to help with his severe sleep apnea. And lastly, good vibes and ((Hugs)) for you!
OCD is not an adjective. It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized. It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son.
Hope all goes well with the procedure. Yes, we do worry about our aging parents.
Prayers for your dad, Laura. Safe travels and good thoughts for you. I just saw an ad about the Inspire last evening. Amazing advances in medical technology.Art_Teacher wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:24 amI am taking my Dad in for a procedure to help with his severe sleep apnea. My husband doesn't worry about it, either! We had a rental car in Denver and that traffic was ridiculous and so stressful, but he handled it with ease. Luckily, I didn't have to do it...just closed my eyes and trusted him.stinkerbelle wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 9:09 amsending all the good vibes, happy thoughts and healing wishes to you all!!

Lots of good vibes and positive thoughts for you both. The older I get, the more anxious I am to drive - especially big cities.

Sending prayers to all of you. I too have a cpap machine and it has been very difficult for me to sleep. I feel for your father. At his age he shouldn't have to deal with that.
