my paternal grandparents had 11 kids - 8 sons and 3 daughters.  And of those 11, 6 sons and 1 daughter served our country proudly. Two of the sons made 20+ year commitments.  Salute and thanks to all those who served everywhere.

Thank you to everyone who and served and protected our freedom.  My late dad served in WWII and I've said a quiet thank you to him.

As a Navy veteran, I see a lot of people confuse the meaning of Memorial Day with Veteran's Day. Memorial Day is the day to remember those who died in the service of their country, either while in combat, or after returning home and dying from injuries and illnesses caused by serving our great nation. It's nice to thank a Veteran, but do not do so on Memorial Day, for I do not wish to be dead. Thank the living service women and men in November, that is their day. Memorial Day is for those who have gone before us.

I agree - the picture says it all.

Thank you to those past, presant and future who have/will serve. I appreciate what they have/will sacrafise for my freedom.
