So my dh & I took one of the fur babies to the vet. Her liver cells are dying off and her red blood cells are not producing enough to sustain her anymore. The vet said she would not last much longer. She was fine on Saturday and Sunday, but this morning not. So we made the tough decision to let Jellybean go. Then we brought her home and my dh and dad buried her for me. Of all the "pups" she was my baby. I raised her from a pup and she was my buddy when I lived in Hawaii and my ex would be away on duty. I would stay up all night doing homework/housework and she would stay up with me and then sleep all day
I'm trying not to be too upset but I'm not dealing too well. I'm heartbroken (truth be told). It's crazy how much of a hold they get of your heart. Frankly, though it is so tough, I would rather her be fine all of the days instead of being sick all for many days/weeks/years.
((hugs)) I'm so sorry for your loss.
Oh....{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you for your loss. Yes, they are so much a part of our lives.

(((HUGS))) Becca. It is hard to loose someone you love.

I am sorry for your loss. It is totally fine to be NOT FINE with this. It is difficult to deal with the loss of someone we love, even if that someone is a pet!

Becca, I worked for the most marvelous of veterinarians for a year - an old "I care about animals, not money" vet. One time a couple came in and had to put their beloved dog down. Dr. Swartz consoled them, and then the woman said "I'll never own another dog. I can't do this."
Dr. Swartz said "Well I'll always have pets, because the many many days/months/years they give us enjoyment and unconditional love? This is a no doubt a price to pay, but when you you think of what they've given you, how can you help but be upset at that loss? But that being said - I'll never ever not own a pet. I'll gladly exchange this hole in my heart for the time I had with them."
I know you feel the same way.
That being said - when I lost my beloved Jayna who only lived 2 1/2 years with her kidney disease - here is what the big strong specialists (tongue in cheek) gave to me:
“We who choose to surround ourselves
with lives even more temporary than our
own, live within a fragile circle;
easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we would still live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only
certain immortality, never fully
understanding the necessary plan.”

So sorry to hear of your beloved Jellybean's passing. Our furbabies become such a huge part of our lives. I know we are attached to ours at home....nothing better than the unconditional love they give!

I'm so sorry for your loss. They really are like family. My family has several Shihtzus about the same age and it's hard to think about losing them all around the same time.

Oh my, my heart is broken for you. It's SO ok to not be dealing with this well. I am having a hard time trying not to cry just thinking about how you are feelin. I have been there before and just the thought of my little fur baby leaving me at some point is killing me. I will not handle it well either. But its ok to be like that, Jellybean was such a huge part of your life. Take care (((HUGS)))
HUGS! I am so sorry for your loss.
We had lost our Scooby almost two years ago now...and I still go into the backroom where he slept and still expect him to be there.
