*Crawling out from a snowdrift*
to say HI! from the northeast! Yes - we have power back and we are getting ourselves unburied from the snowfall. I'm 51 years old, and I have NEVER seen this kind of snow before Halloween. We were withought power from about 3 pm yesterday until 9 am this morning. Thank goodness for the generator and the pellet stove! What's up with these storms (the hurricane and then this out of season North Easter)? Hope everyone else hit by this nasty storm is doing well today.

Glad your power is back on, and that you had back up resources to use! I too think this is very early, and hope it is not an indication of what the winter will be like! Stay warm!

I hope not as my back cannot take it! I did not get hit too bad with this one but I did have to drive to Western Mass yesterday morning to bring DD her winter stuff as it was still at home...left early enough, so I thought, to get home before it hit but as we were at lunch it started and not slowly either! By the time we left the restaurant I had 2 inches on my car and we didn't even finish eating, I was anxious to get home. She got a LOT of snow out there and no power and tons of trees down...took me 3.5 hours to get home when it should have been 1.5 tops...ya I had a drink when I got home... I hate driving in any snow ...but it is pretty (ask me if I still think this come middle of February...my guess probably not).

Hoping those still w/o power get back soon. Stay warm!

I am glad you have power back! Mine is still out, and our electric company is saying that it should be back on by weds night. Crazy! I'm at my boyfriends' house now and he has power thankfully. There are soooooo many downed trees and power lines it's unbelievable.

Glad you had the resources of a generator and a pellet stove...I have neither! I'd definitely be finding a different place to stay. And I too, hope that this isn't a warning of a severe winter to come!

glad you are safe and have electricity again. The weather gurus are predicting that kind of weather a lot for the Eastern part of the U.S. this winter. blizzards and all. And they say it is due to global warming??????

That's why I don't watch weather forecasts....why would I want to know that in advance? lol

Nebraska was hit with a storm like that the year before I moved out here. Some places were without power for 3 weeks - could you imagine??

Glad you are safe and warm!

I live in MA and we have no power and trees are down everywhere. We have so much tree damage in our yard. Our power went out Saturday night at 7pm. My husband has power at work so I'm here in his office uploading pics for the challenges....priorities people :winkb:

I have a co-worker in CT.....he is still without power. His went out Saturday. They are telling him at least a week. I can't imagin. He said that there are so many trees down, to him it looks like a bomb went off. I hope everyone stays safe.

Yes, this is amazing. I have never seen anything like this! They are telling us at least a week too - and, tomorrow will be the second day of no school.

Re: *Crawling out from a snowdrift*
My kids have no school all week. We are on our 3rd day without power. Here are the numbers in 3 states without power....MA 35,000 CT 65,000 and NH 100,000 customers. It's crazy and they said possibly we will get it back on Fri or Sat. My kids and I left MA today and drove to Newport RI. The storm hasn't hit there and we can actually enjoy the Fall foliage. I brought my scrap stuff and there is a huge work station in my room, so I'm having fun. The kids are loving the pool. We left my hubby to hold down the fort at home, but he's happy to have the place to himself.
