After 8 days of arguing etc between docs, finding out she had 4 bacterias in her belly because she has a HOLE in her bowel, and finally getting the surgeon in place, the hospital has given us space in the OR tonight. Surgery will take 3-5 hours

Which is usually normal after such surgery!!! Hugs to you Kara!
Yes it is but she refuses to stay sedated and is both awake and crying
She is cuffed so she cannot remove vent
Surgery was long don't have any new prognosis
They did not close her which I expected

Oh Kara I know that must be awful for you to see your Mom like that. I really hope that she does well. Try and get some rest yourself so you don't get too worn down. Let us know how things progress. Take care!!
I'm with Darlene...pretty much what i expected to hear considering how sick she was. And that infection needs space to drain. She may be more sedated than you realize even if she does wake up some...she may not remember. Some people just have weird reactions to the drugs. And where i work (in the ER) it's pretty much standard to restrain hands even with someone sedated, because it only takes a blink of an eye for someone to reach up and pull that tube out. Easier to prevent that than to have to put it back in again. Lots of prayers and hugs coming your way!Kara wrote:Yes it is but she refuses to stay sedated and is both awake and crying
