A little excitement

We just had a little excitement here this evening. The dog was making whiny noises at the cat that was sitting on a chair under the dining room table. When I went to check I noticed a dead mouse on the other chair. I quickly summoned Lauren to get rid of it and then it started to move ! She was able to catch it in a paper towel and put it outside. About 15 minutes later I noticed the other cat playing around the end of the rug and trying to get under it. On further investigation (by Lauren again) another shrew ran out . The cat grabbed it, let it go a few times then it disappeared under the sofa. So - I was upstairs hanging over the end of the balcony giving directions !!, Dan was at one end of the couch (rather reluctantly I thought), Nathan and his friend and Lauren were peering underneath and the 2 cats were sitting nearby watching carefully. They pushed the sofa around but still no shrew and finally they had to lift up the sofa and Lauren went underneath and caught the second one who was wisely sitting right in the middle of the sofa. So now even thoiugh it's warm all the doors are closed and the cats are banished. Don't know what we'd do without our fearless daughter

LOL! Great job Lauren!
I am the spider killer in my home, but I've never encountered a mouse. Thank goodness, because I know the boys would NOT be helpful for that either!

Too funny! You did have some excitement!!! Our momma cat loves to bring back mice that she has caught when we let her out. She will lay them on our deck and meow until we notice the wonderful "present" she brought us. She did bring a live one in once not too long ago. Luckily it ran behind the garbage can that is near the sliding glass door. I was able to capture it in a cup and take it outside. Life with animals is very interesting!

Ughhhh.....been there done that!
Actually, that was why I adopted Que. I had been asking Larry for months to close up a hole in a corner on the porch in our Angleton home when we had knew siding put on. He only needed to fill it with that foam stuff.....mouse problem occurred. He told me no new pets and I had agreed until after six months he didn't get the hole closed. For two-three weeks after Que arrived she would leave her treasures for me. Yuck!!! Even Larry likes Que now. I have two feral cats here at the mobile home on the ranch. I had a problem with mice until I started to feed the cats. No problems now! Well "Cat" is not quite feral. He'll now comes sit on my lap on the porch. "Mama cat" will sit on the porch as long as she is at least 20ft from me.

I would have been right up there with you! It's good that your cats are good mousers, and shrewers?, but they really should finish the job before coming inside!!! So glad Lauren is brave and took care of things!!

Oh dear god... I have mouse issues, too. Apparently mice come with the territory when you live in the city...

My aunt was deathly afraid of mice. One time, she walked into the cabin in MN and started to say something to Mom...and saw a mouse run across the floor. We still have no idea how she did it, but mid-word, she was suddenly on the chair! No jump that we saw, no knees bent, no climbing quickly onto the chair - just poof! there she was.
