I guess financial times are tough all over!

DAng! During the summer, MAson usually goes to a karate camp 3 days per week. He's been going there for 3 years. LAst year, I paid $75 for 3 days ( a good deal). My mom stopped by there for me today to get the schedule and current rate. She called me...................... $145 now!!!!! They said 3 days is considered full time, so I'd have to pay the full time price, even though he only goes 3 days a week. I don't think I can swing that and think it STINKS that in these tough economic times, they raised my price nearly 100%. :( CRAP! So, either I fork up, call and beg for a discount or my kiddo doesn't get to go to karate camp this summer. I has a case of the sads now.....

It is hard right now. No one is talking about the inflation we are currently under. I see the struggles of families every day in my community. I'm sorry you son may not be going to camp. The biggest heartbreak for us is to tell our child, not this year. I hope it won't happen for you. It's like watching my daughter dreaming the economy will get better so we can again afford two in college again. Masters is on hold right now.

Sorry, Cec. It doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe enrollment is declining so they have to raise prices to make up the difference. Either way, it really stinks.

I keep hearing on the news that the economy is getting better and people feel like things are starting to look up. None of that is going on in my little corner of the world. :greenconfused:

Z's gymnastic class was the same way.. :( So we switched to swimming lessons at the YMCA. Cheaper and the membership includes everyone in the family.

I know what you mean...our 4-H camp used to be about $70 for 4 days and now it is up to $200! I feel bad for all the kids that won't get to enjoy the experience and learn from going away to camp...

Hopfully, they can offer you a discount since you are a repeat customer...

What if you drop to 2 days a week?

Sorry to hear about this. Maybe they have a 2-day plan like handerful said.

Sorry!

Our city has a garage sale at the community center and last year the booths were only $5; just found out this year they're $40! So, I won't be doing that!

That really stinks! I'd be calling and begging for a scholarship or a discount or something. After 3 years of going there, I'd think they'd do something for your son.

our local church camp went up by $75 - $100 - steep in my mind. The only nice thing is that they give you a chance to earn discounts by working clean up days.

That's what I was going to say... better have a repeat customer back at $75 (or some other price discounted from the new full price) than lose out on that money all together.
And that really sucks big time btw.

What a bummer! Hopefully they will offer you a discount. I say ask...you will never know if you don't ask!

Don't remember this - when is the garage sale and where is it located (which community center). I like going to garage sales. You can find good stuff with good prices. I am interested in going. Our neighborhood community is having our garage sale on 5/22. If I have time I might try to thin out some of my stash.

That's a horrible increase! At the studio I teach at we talked about upping our rates, and decidied not to do it at all. We have kept the same tuition rates for three years. If we had decided to go ahead it would of been $5.oo. NOT 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would go ahead and ask the owner "why". he should at least give some reason for a 100% increase! That just BLOWS MY MIND!!!! We would loose more than half our students if not all! I am so sorry for your son and you. Good Luck!
