I was washing dishes at the kitchen sink. I have a fenced back yard and live on an Air Force base and I was watching my 3 and 4 year old daughters play on the swing set before the rain hits and we're stuck in side. It's slanted so I can't see the kid on the swing closest to the house when they are all the way swung back. I hear a scream and see the swing- swing back. No Violet (3) and I run outside and see her facing the opposite direction from me I grab her and you might not want to read this part if you are easily grossed out- her whole mouth is filled with blood and dirt.
I didn't panic. I still can't believe I didn't panic. Mommy mode totally took over. I got her inside and got her mouth cleaned out and ALL OF HER TEETH ARE FINE THANK GOD! She just has some cuts on her top and bottom gums on her right side. That is where the blood came from. She also has a split bottom lip, a cuton her top lip, and her chin is scraped.
UGH Why do I have to live some where they advocate ROCKS instead of grass??? Is it smart for kids to play on ROCKS??
So this will be a weird scrap page!! I will get pics up soon so you guys can help me! She says it doesn't hurt, of course I just got done crying.

Glad it wasn't any more serious than that!
I never understood the rock thing either. We have some parks here that use mulch and some that use rocks. Our local officials say the rocks are cheaper because they need to be replaced less often. I guess he's never had a rock stuck in his knee or had a mouth full of them.

OCD is not an adjective. It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized. It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions.
I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son.

Ali (almost 3) is good about falling on her face. She busted open her top lip just the other day. I made her hold a cold wet wash cloth to it. After it stopped bleeding I added an ice pack to a dry towel and let her hold that in place to keep any swelling down. Then I just watch her to make sure it doesn't get worse. You can't really do nesporn and stuff to mouth parts.
I hope she feels better soon
sounds like a bad start to the day.
I hope she feels better soon

so glad she's OK - kids recover quickly
Oh hugs to you and her! You may want to give her some tylenol - cause it will start to hurt....

I am so glad she is okay. When my son was little we would go to a beautiful new playground and I never could understand why they used rocks instead of sand or something soft.

Geez, that's awful! I'm glad she's not worse off than what she is & thank Heaven her teeth are all intact! It's amazing how resilient those little buggers are! Mom, I think you deserve to pony on up to the tiki bar!

Hope it doesn't hurt during the night. Poor thing. Hugs to her!
Lynda
Poor thing! Not rocks, but Lynn did a similiar thing in Kindergarten and the result was a self extraction of of a front tooth about two years early. She was jumping off the bunk beds while swinging with the toy net. Net caught in tooth and the rest was history. I rushed her to a friend who is an orthodontist who years later did Lynn's braces. He was the only one I could think of at 8:00 pm at night. Don't worry he said. She'll heal and from the feel of her gums she hasn't shifted the adult front teeth. Hard way to learn about not doing something that might get you hurt. I was thankful in the long run because she learned at an early age to ask herself, Will what I'm doing hurt me.? It must have really hurt to extract that tooth.
I'm sending you both big {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}! You rocked turning into an "in control Mommy." And an extra hug for the having to come down from that adrenaline going out of site. I understand the nerves afterwards and the sudden rush of tears!

Glad she's OK. Accidents happen no matter what surface or where or how close you are. Welcome to the mommy club. I hate to tell you but it doesn't get any easier like when she's sixteen and in the goalie box at a boy's soccer game...ugh. Hang in there. You never get used to it but you can learn to accept it.
Becky

I'm glad she is ok. I hope it doesn't look too bad.

Poor baby (both of you). Luckily mouth injuries heal quickly.

UGh! I have been there so many times. I'm glad she's doing ok. (((HUGS)))

omg! That is horrible. It's so important to be in mommy mode. You did a good job. Those head injuries always look worse then they really are. I bet you little one is no worse for the wear and doing fine now. Give her lots of hugs though, cause that can be tramatic.
