I have a dilema. I need a grandma name for myself. I am 38, my DH is 57, his 35 yr DD and her kids (3yrDD and 6yrDS) are visiting.
I children 15yrDD (Diana) 8yrDS, and 3yrDD and my kids called their binkies meemees.)
I have my parents living very close as well, and my kids call my parents Gramma and Grampa.
I am confused already.
Mimi won't work because of the binkies.
Nana won't work as that is DD nickname.
Gramma won't work because of my mom.
any ideas?

My mother was supposed to be Grand "D" (D for her first name) pronounced Grandy.
(my kids had trouble with this turned it into DeeDee LOL!)
ETA: In keeping with the theme, my grandmother became Gigi ('G'reat 'G'randmother)

My girls have always called my husbands mother Nanny. My great grandmother was called me-ma. Not sure how either of these came about.

My mom goes by Grammy and my stepdad goes by Papa. I call my grandparents Grandma and Grandpa and my great grandmother and great grandfather were Grammy and Grampy.

Grammy ???
Or you could go foreign. Abuela (pronounced ah-bway-la) is Spanish for grandmother. The French word whatever it is probably sounds fancier.

One of the grandchildren on my dh's side named the grandmas and the names all stuck. She named them after their dogs, so she could remember them (and she named other people vegetable names, but that's another story). So, my dh's grandma is fondly known as Grandma Honey. (her dog's name was Honey). It's a good thing that they didn't name her now, cause her current dog's name is miracle.

My mom dated a guy who wanted to be called Grandman and thought it sounded cool. So, when I was pregnant with A, she decided to be called Grandlady. It's since been shortened to Grand, because she IS.
Aren't you?

Maybe Grandma Jean?
My daughter will call my stepdad "Grandpa Chris" and my dad "Grandpa" and DH's Grandpa "Granddaddy."

My mom was supposed to be Granny, but Quinn pronounced it "Henny", so that has stuck and that's what we call her now.

my kids have many grandparents so they are all Grandma...followed by first name. It is the best way and has always worked for us.
