My DD Hannah ( newly 13 and in 7th grade) and her friend won third place in the regional science fair yesterday and qualified to go to State!!!! Their project was comparing the effectiveness of commercial chemical cleaners vs. Kim and Aggie's (from BBC's How Clean is Your House?) natural cleaner ( a mix of warm water, vinegar, baking soda and tea tree oil). Their results? Both worked equally well!
I'm so proud I could burst!

That's great!
So, did they test it out by cleaning your house? Because they can do a follow-up study at mine if they need to!

Pahaha! Actually, they divided a cutting board in half and rubbed raw chicken on it (the first time) That one failed because the gelatin medium was too hard. The second try they were at school and they used raw egg. That one disintegrated in the bacteria culture machine that they have at school. The third time all they had was oranges and their teacher thought it would never work but lo and behold the bacteria grew! I fear oranges now.
Sooooo, if you would like them to come rub nasty raw food on your cutting boards, I'm sure they will revise the experiment based on the judges comments for the State competition.
