So I've been watching HBO series on my computer for a while now. It's nice to have something to watch when regular tv stinks, ya know? I watched the entire series of Sex and the City. And I just finished watching the entire series of Six Feet Under.
Now I'm looking for a new series to watch. Suggestions?

We've been watching a lot of BBC series through netflix. I love their mini-series and television shows, the dramas not so much the comedies.

OMG, "Six Feet Under" was the BEST series, EVER, wasn't it?? *le sigh* I was so sad when I watched the last episode.
I've also gotten into "Weeds". It's HILARIOUS and well-written.
And "Dexter", "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad".
GREAT shows.

Unless you have kids. I thought it was a terrific show too. My ds now accuses me having a double standard and I cannot argue the point. I'm more careful with what I watch with ds#2.

Yes, I really liked it. And I cried through most of the last episode too.

Can you elaborate? The series I just finished had a lot of stuff in it that wasn't appropriate for kids, too, so I just watched it when they were in bed.

Your kids don't have to know that you watch it. Simple as that. It's a good show.

My kids are older, when we first started watching it they were 13 and 16/17ish and I thought I had made my views VERY VERY clear on drugs. VERY!!! We're just straight as an arrow types, you know?
Weeds is hilarious, well acted and I love all of the actors and actresses who play in it so we started watching it through Netflix. It reminded me of the city where we live. It's a dry county and everyone is running alcohol through their houses illegally with a wink and nod.
Anyway, about 3 seasons into it we stopped watching because it seemed as though even though she always got in trouble, she always turned out okay. Plus the sex was just over-the-top at times and I was sending my youngest son out of the room constantly. So we just stopped.
Fast forward to last year. My oldest son, who always had a track record of the model student, the model citizen, the model everything, gets caught with pot. Now he's 20, has chosen to be out of our lives while he finds himself, etc. but the one thing he told me is that I lived by a double standard. The values that I taught weren't the values that I lived by and his ONE very prominent example were the nights spent laughing at this particular show.
He was right. Either I don't condone violence and drug use or I find it entertaining. It is obviously not the root cause of his anger and his problems, those we are dealing with. But we have certainly been better about making sure that we walk the walk as much as we talk the talk around here so that there is no ambiguity with DS #2!

i totally second (or third) this suggestion. i LOVE this show and can't wait til the new season starts. there was also another series, called "first blood" i think? i'm usually never into the vampire genre but this show hooked us. maybe cuz there is a good guy in it so not all negative. lots of twists n' turns too.

Wow, I've never heard of any of those shows. Just Sopranos . . . and isn't A&E airing the last season? I'll stick with all the CSI's & Criminal minds shows. There on when my kids are in the bed. Ghost Whisperer has to be my favorite though. I know, I'm boring.

Weeds is awesome. Dexter rocks my world. And I love me some Mad Men. Breaking Bad is good too. If they have the Tudors I'd suggest that. I love Period movies and shows. Some other HBO series that you might want to check out are Deadwood, Sopranos, and The Wire. We LOVED The Wire.

I dont have HBO, but a few of my friends love True Blood on there. They are always talking about it and specifically talking about "Hot vampire sex". So you might want to give that a look.
