 My 11 yo son skied the 13 k Vasaloppet today. He guessed he would finish in an hour & 20 minutes. He crossed the finish line at 1 hour, 20 minutes, 31 seconds.  First thing he said to me when he got done was "I want to do it again next year."  He rocks.

He was a little tired when all was said & done.

He skied a 7 k race yesterday, dd did 4 k.
Notice he doesn't look quite as tired in this one, LOL, half the distance.

They scrape it up from the fairgrounds (& other places I'm sure)- usually spend a day & a half hauling it in. It'll all be out of there by tomorrow morning. In no-snow years it's not usually as wide.

ETA: Most of the race is cross-country- just finishes in town. There's a 58 k, 42 k, & 35 k also.

It's in MORA, Minnesota. You've maybe heard of MORA, Sweden? LOL- I hear they are sister cities. You should see the size of our town's dala horse.
