 How long do you normally let gift cards/certificates burn a hole in your pocket?




I am one of those whose hole usually burns really fast but I still have 2 gift cards laft over from Christmas LAST YEAR!
I went to use one of them the other day and  I still could not find anything in the store  I wanted or needed....... I wish I could just exchange it for a card for here--- why can't my family just listen to me????????????????????????

 lol!!!! i get a gift card and within a few hours i'm at the store usually spending MORE than what the gift card is for!!!! but, it doesn't help that my five and three year old are just like me with an extreme case of 'i wants'. i've taught my girls well!!

 I have a gc from Stampin' Up sitting here for 3 months...need to spend that one.  Was just  thinking I might run to Barnes and Nobel today to put a dent in my gc from there...the new Somerset mags are out, I think.

OMGosh - great question!!  I'm HORRIBLE about using gift cards.  We have restaurant gift certificates, gift cards, even $100 cash gave us for eating out that is still sitting around.  The cash is from 2005 when I graduated with my masters.  Grrrr. 

 Usually not long at all. I think the longest that I kept one is maybe 3 months!!LOL!! I love to shop,hence my screen name!

 It depends.  Some I use right away and others I forget I have.  I still have one from Christmas 2007.

 I don't wait long. I often feel guilty spending money on myself but, not with gc.

 The "real" question should of been....do you remember where you tuck your gift cards!  haha!
 I seem to get them, and put them in what I think is a safe spot!  Then months later I find them and do the "oh yeah, I have this!"

 I usually hold on to GC for a long time...I can never make a decision on what to buy. If it is specific to a location than, I usually use it fairly quickly.

I usually try to stretch mine out for as long as possible!  I have quite a bit on a couple of ACOT GCs and it will be fun to see how long I can use them. 

 depends on what they are...  I have movie cards that are almost 2 years old, same for a restaurant cert, cause its a place I don't go that often.  Yet, when I get one for coffee, its gone in a day or two

 I usually use mine about as soon as I get them.  However I got quite a few for Christmas this year and they are still sitting on the counter.  I am trying to save them to buy some summer clothes...but we will see what comes up between now and then.

 I try to use them asap so I don't forget them.

 If I have a gift card two weeks that is a long time. If I can't find something I like for me, I use for someone else.
One year I got a gift card for Christmas and went to use 4 months later the store was out of bussiness. So I always use the cards soon after I get them.

 As long as it takes till I get to that specific store.

 Oh good question!!!   OK well i think that would depend on where gc is from.  I sometimes will go to stores after xmas before spring to get sale things, plus u get a bit more huh!! LOL BUT i have 3 gc to local restraunts and need to use them up on is from 3 years ago and the others are only like a year old or so. I know they will expire 12/09 so better use em up huh!! LOL
