How strange is this???

A statewide lottery in Alaska was held recently to benefit a nonprofit organization (STAR - Standing Together Against Rape) that aids victims of sexual abuse.  The winner would receive $500,000.  Get this---the winner is a convicted sex offender.  He was convicted twice in 1993 of sexual abuse of a minor and once again in 2000.  He says he plans to buy himself a house and donate $100,000 of his winnings back to STAR.

WHAT?!??!?!??!?!? There should be some kind of rule against that. But that's certainly the epitome of irony.

WOW! And there isn't anything in the rules about convicted felons being ineligble? Hopefully that will be a lesson to other non-profits! At least some of the money will come back to the group - is that a silver lining? :?

Actually I don't see an issue other than it's strange that he would choose to buy a ticket to benefit that particular organization.  At least they are getting some money back as a donation - he could have kept it all.

Hopefully he actually does donate the money and isn't just saying that so nobody firebombs his new house or something.

Well, now his crimes have been made so public, hopefully somebody will mistake him for a moose and shoot him in the head. Accidentally, of course. :?

I have zero tolerance for sex crimes and any crime involving children.

Oh my that IS ironic! I have no tolerance for crimes against children either! I recently found out someone was accused of raping his daughter and her friend here on base. I will no longer let my daughter walk to and from school with all the other kids!

All I can say is Wow!! You'd think there'd be some rule in the winnings that wouldn't allow that.
