we are doing stuff easy.  i'm done with chaos of holidays.  tonight is all finger foods, dips, a birthday cake for my dd.  tomorrow will probably be the same.  seafood dip, mozarella sticks, my dd's chili dip (yum!), potato skins, shrimp cocktail, tampanade (spe?), all those good fattening kinda things.  :)

I'm not cooking at all! I did Christmas Day, my Mom did Christmas Eve and my sister is doing New Year's Eve. And I know my sis isn't cooking... she's bringing in hot food!

We mix our Southern with our German heritage and my mother and I will be preparing pork chops (in lieu of lamb chops which none of us care for) fried potatoes, kraut, black eyed peas cooked with a teeny, tiny bit of hog jowl, "green stuff" aka a slimmed down version of Watergate Salad and cornbread.

For dessert we will have my dad's birthday cake which is a Black Walnut Cake that his mother started making for him when he was just a small boy. It's everyone's favorite cake!! (My dad is a New Year's baby. ;))

My DH is cooking and he won't tell me what.  He's not known for his cooking ability, so I'm a little nervous, but at least I don't have to do it.

Leftovers! We could have homemade soup, or pasta, or pizza. So many choices and I don't have to cook!

I've got a big bowl of marinated blackeyed pea salad in the fridge for tomorrow.  I'm going to an all-day crop in the morning and everyone is supposed to bring something to eat.  It will be interesting to see what is there.  I put some of the salad aside for the rest of my family at home.
