 hi,
Sunday night, I broke my little toe and spent yesterday at the doctor's office getting x-rays and trying to get it fixed.  The doctor thinks surgery would be best option to re-align it or put a pin in my little toe.  This is all very odd to me.  I have never broken anything before and for it to be my little toe and at this extreme to have surgery is just baffling.  I am nervous but this is painful and I guess if surgery is the best option...I'll have it done.  I don't really "know" anyone on here, but if you are a prayerful person...could you say a little prayer Thursday for me?  Thanks.

the doctor has the 4th toe and little toe taped together, but doesn't think it will heal right.  The little toe will be sticking out and I wouldn't be able to wear shoes...I broke it and it's displaced.  sorry, sounds gross.

 Ouch!  Hope the surgery goes well!  My mom broke her big toe (like 20 years ago) and they put a cast up to her knee on for it!  Keep us updated!  Good luck!

 Ouch!!! I have broken both little toes, one of em twice.... but never that bad! (yes- it was a horse each time. no- I'll never learn.)

 OUCH!!!! Hope surgery goes well- it must be pretty badly broken to require surgery, although I know your pinky has alot to do with your balance

 Sounds like the same thing that happened to my mom.  She had a pin put in and a cast up to her knee also.  Good luck!

I had a broken little toe and the doctor said, "It's going to hurt a long time so take aspirin, elevate your foot as much as possible.   Nothing more we can do for you."

YOu must have really mashed it up!

 WOW, like most I've always heard all they can do for broken toes is tape 'em up.  You really broke it good!!  I'll say a prayer for you.  ((HUGS))

 I broke my lil toe when I was 12 or 13. A big giant person stepped on my poor toe at the beach. Doc said there was nothing they could do for it.

 I am a skeptic when it comes to medical decisions that big.....I suggest a second opinion.  Much cheaper than major surgery!

I agree. I can't imagine a a broken little toe really needing such major surgery, unless there are some important details that we don't know of.

According to the x-rays, the place where the toe is broken is right at the skin and it's out of joint--displaced.  Yesterday the doc deaden the toe and tried to put the little toe back into joint (set) and it didn't work because the bone is displaced-this is the reason for surgery to set it or put a pin in...not sure if it will require a pin.  I'm nervous about this, but realize it needs to be fixed and done properly.

OUCH!  I broke my little toe before and it's certainly painful. I must not have done to much of a job on it because my dr never mentioned surgery. Just taped it and gave me a cast shoe to wear.
