Even though this date is going to be reknowned as the Beginning of the Summer Olympics, it will be a memorable date for others. Marriages will skyrocket today, babies will be honored in the Chinese culture and celebrations will be occurring all around the world.
For myself, this day holds a very special meaning. As of today, I have been cancer-free for 20 years. On Aug 8, 1988 (8.8.88), another lucky day and year, I underwent surgery to have part of my cervix removed. Diagnosed with severe dysplasia at that time, I have been going in for a test every year for twenty years and have remained cancer-free. For this, I am very thankful.
For those celebrating an occasion as well, Happy Anniversary to you too!
