We just got home from our neighborhood's National Night Out walk and hot dog roast. It was a lot of fun. We had the police car behind us w/his lights flashing and on every street, they would hit the siren and then announce what the walk was for. Unfortunately, not a lot of people turned out. We have close to 300 homes in our hood and only about 20 people showed up.
Did anybody else participate?
Rosa sat so that Martin could walk. Martin walked so that Barack could run. Barack ran so that our children could fly.
Yes, we know.
We get to see you molesting that one everyday.

We went to a NNO block party and it was awesome. Live band, free food, dancing, tons of games & goodies for the kiddos...LOVED it. NNO is HUGE here in Tacoma, regardless of what district you're in. (i.e. East side, North End, etc...)

We went to one tonight in Ogden for about 20 minutes until my ds freaked out when the crowd started growing.
It wasn't promoted here either.
Even if it had been, it would of been cancelled because of the tropical storm.

Nah.....haven't heard anything about it here, either.
If life gives you lemons, go find an annoying person with paper cuts.
Didn't hear anything about it.
our town didn't participate this year again, but we took the dept Special Op's trailer out for another town. The special op's trailer is something homeland security set up and we got through a grant after 9/11, its equipped with all kinds of goodies needed in case of a disaster or really serious crime scene. Thankfully, we don't have to take ours out too often! Instead of NNO, our dept has done Emergency Services Appreciation Day, and its designed around police, fire, EMS awareness, we also have members of Domesti Violence /rape advocates available. It has worked well and we get very positive feedback, much better than NNO for us.

i didnt even hear about it until this morning when they were complaining that not very many people turned out. Maybe had they made it more known-- we would have gone.
I live in the sticks & wasn't about to drive to town for it.... dh did get to play show & tell with his squad car at the local grocery store for 4 hours.... all overtime. Now I can afford their groceries. Or not.
