Ok so I have a strange sister in law...we are trying to plan a baby shower and then she says oh I would like a couple of male friends there and my brothers(my husband) there to meet the baby. So how or what the heck do you do for a shower like this? Do you send invites to a man or just call them? What kind of food do you have? We are thinking a 7-9pm party now.

I would treat them like everyone else and not worry about it.

heard of them, never attended any like that. Definitely get some food that gys like, wings, hoagies, beer! Well, that is if you WANT the guys to attend
Maybe try some internet searches to see what kinds of ideas to come up with for help on this one! Good luck!

I am not sure what would have to change much...Play the game where you have a series of baby food in unmarked dishes and they have to guess what "flavor" it is..That would be interesting if they could get it! Food wise, I think if it's not "sweets" only, then you should be fine.
Good luck with your planning!

My baby shower for my husband's side of the family had men there. My MIL just drew names (the thank-you card envelopes) for the door prizes and there were favors (candy) at every place. It was pretty much the typical baby shower. The men seemed to have a good enough time.

hey, something cute for the gys would be to have a contest. get a baby doll, some Pamprs and hae each guy put a diaper o the baby. The girls each score to see which guy does the best diaper job and the winner gets a prize. tHAT should get the guys into the spirit
Don't forget to take lots of pictures of that one!

I've never been to a baby shower with guys in attendance, but I don't think I'd do it any differently that with a bunch of gals. Most people probably have already eaten dinner by 7:00 PM, so light snacks plus cake should be enough. Beachlover, the diaper thing is a good idea.

I had a lot of guy friends come to my shower. My best friend had them race to see who could drink beer from a baby bottle faster, it was roll on the floor funny.

My SIL's baby shower included both guys and girls, they did a lot of the games as teams mixing guys and girls on each team, it was a lot of fun.

I just went to a co-ed baby shower TODAY. It was kinda strange . . . none of the guys got the ooh-ing and aah-ing over the baby clothes . . . they kept making dumb comments.
However we did play two interesting games that the guys actually were really into in a kind of creepy-competitive manner:
For one game we each got a blob of play-doh and had five minutes to sculpt a baby. Most of the guys had really weird interpretations: a sperm, a blastula (ball of cells), an anatomically correct boy baby . . . you get the picture.
For the other game, the hostess had melted twelve different kinds of candy bars in twelve different diapers (I think she microwaved them?). We had to pass the diapers around and try to figure out what candy bar was in each one (no tasting!). It was gross, but SO up the guys alley.

ewww - that candy bar in the diaper is just wrong! LOL
A fun game that the guys would be funny at would be...
Hand out paper bags ( they must be large enough to go over your head ) and some crayons and ask everyone to draw a baby in 5 minutes. ( You could make this more involved by providing a little more time and other supplies - construction paper, scissors, tape, yarn, etc.) There will be lots of questions... but that's all the instruction you should give. When every one is done, ask them to open their bags and place them on their heads. After everyone has the bag on their head, ask them to remove one thing that a baby wouldn't wear... repeat until most people have removed the bag! Prizes go to best baby and 1st to remove the bag. You could give a prize to the person who removed the most too! LOL

We use to do this at one of the companies I use to work for. We had a fairly young staff that was marriage age and then came the babies. It was always a couples shower regardless if it was a bridal or baby shower. We didn't worry about games. Food was typically munchies and of course a cake for the event. Opened presents and just socialized.

I love Ann's ideas of having guy-friendly food like wings, subs, beer, etc... and think that the diaper changing game would be funny!
Ronny's idea of the beer/baby bottle is awesome too!!
Good luck!

I attended a baby shower last year that included men. It was held late morning, so the food was substantial breakfast type things, such as egg casseroles, tater tots, sausages, fruit, etc. The games were designed to engage the men. They didn't care to look at the gifts as they were passed around, but they enjoyed the fun and the games. It was a good shower.

Me again!
I saw the candy bars in the diaper thing on an episode of"The Girls Next Door" (LOVE that show! One of my guilty pleasures.)...and was cracking up at it. I think it would be funny to watch the guys play this one. *MUAAHAAHA!!*
The other games sound good too.....the beer in the baby bottle and guess the baby food.
Hey, if the guys wanna come, then they should be ready to have some fun, IMO.
Enjoy!

I had my baby shower with men there. I have mostly male friends. But I did not want the normal baby shower with the games and things like that. It just was not my things so it was more like a party.

I know I went to one before where the guys had a contest of who could drink beer out of a baby bottle the fastest. You could use apple juice, if you prefer not to have beer there.
