My BIL treats his boy and girl different. He is more gentle with Madysen...and when she was first born he was nervous about holding her.

We have one of each. I don't think my hubby treats them any different. When my dd was born...he held her like she was a breakable. LOL! When my ds was born...he was a little more at ease with him.

Good grief... another reason I am probably divorced! I have one of each and they are a 1 1/2 apart.... ExDH treats DD like she needs protection 24/7 while DS is good to go!

My dh is much more attentive to dd but I think it's only because of experience. He was so afraid of hurting the boys when they were babies and I think he is just more confident in himself now.

Those of you who mentioned dd's having dh wrapped around their fingers? I can see happening with dh/dd.

I'm not sure how my DH would be with a girl. We just have Xander, and the poor kid can't get away with anything. DH is really hard on him sometimes. Not physically, just wanting him to act older than he is at times.

Yes, but in his defense so do I. My son is a lot like him and my daughter is a lot like me so we both can be short with the ones that our closest to our own personalities. They also have different rules and expectations because there is a 6 yr. age gap.Laura

We play good cop bad cop! Dh thinks I'm to tough on dd but he doesn't get any better results. As for ds's, we are a little more lax with them on certain issues and dd gets upset, mostly school homework issues, dd gets lazy and ds never bring anything home less then b's. Chores are a major pain, dh ends up doing their chores which make me mad especially when I hear "mom can I have some money for the movies or can so and so spend the night"! ugh teenagers!

I think it took until Jess got ready to leave for college for dh to figure out that she doesn't need protecting 24/7. She does, however, have him wrapped around her little finger when she needs anything! With ds, he does treat him a little less like a princess! And he has kind of pushed responsibility on him at a younger age. I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing though, because the qualities he has pushed, he should have pushed on her too!

yup my 2 boys and 1 girl are all grown up but even to this day, DH treats DD like she is fragile and must be spoiled. He has no idea she is every bit as tough or tougher than her older brothers. they too treat her like a spoiled little thing.
