DH drinks a small glass of Barefoot Merlot every night before going to bed. He says the tannins (sp?) are antioxidants and good for your health. Its cheap and he can get it at Walmart. Me, not so much. Wine gives me heartburn bad nowadays. Now, you want to talk good things to drink, let's talk single malt scotch...

The one I get the most cuz it's tasty and cheap is called RELAX ($11 CDN). I drink the white and it is tasty! I also like one called MOOSELAND, this is a bit more in cost ($15 CDN) but very tasty as well. And I also like this brand called Trivente. They are an Argentine wine and are cheap and tasty! The one I like the most never seems to be in the store though. haha!
Have fun!
Oh, and I want some of that california wine too Chrissy! haha!
Sweet wines is what I like too - I started with Reislings, I like Ice Wine but it seems to be really expensive, and I recently discovered Moscato d'Asti and I've tried 3 different brands and loved them all (and it's not expensive, big bonus, lol).
I don't drink much, so I am not sure I have an opinion of 'good" or 'bad' but we tried some Coppola (Like Francis Ford Coppola) wines that *I* thought were really yummy, and were around $8-$9 a bottle, plus they offer some rebates...
I also have a tendency to like wines with the word "b**ch" in the name... not sure if that says anything about quality (or about me?), but it's kinda funny.

I got some of this as a gift and LOVED the velvet white. I can't drink red as I get migranes.

I think I NEED some of that RELAX, but I live in PA, and we have stupid antiquated liquor laws here. you can only get what is in the state stores, and are not allowed to have liquor shipped to your house. dont think they have RELAX here. that's great though, because that's why I drink wine!
but you have drive thru state stores don't you? We did in Ohio, which I always found odd....

You can buy wine in the grocery store here in Michigan too. I never knew there were states where you can't! lol
I like fruit wine made by a friend at his winery in Muskegon....he is licensed to sell it commercially. You can get it directly at his own store, called Clay Avenue Cellars, or a few select small grocery store/specialty stores. My favorites are the strawberry wine and the pear wine.
Hey Ms. Nancy, I dated a guy who had worked there or was related to the owners...small town huh? His brother was a minister in Ohio and he lived with him for a summer while I was in college....I can't remember his name though - is that bad?

I prefer White Zin, but also am a huge fan of Mead Wine as there as several vineyards in Nebraska that make it. It's really really sweet and most people don't like it.
I tend to stick with the barefoot brand unless I buy local stuff.

Small world it is!!! I love his wine...great stuff. I've been known to drive to Muskegon just to stock up....and it's 130 miles one way! lol I gave a bottle for a wedding gift to a friend along with some cool glasses...she said she was so excited when she saw the package becuase she was hoping it was ClayAvenue wine! She said she KNEW we were good friends when i gave her a bottle of my treasured wine lol.deerewife wrote:Ayla wrote:

Are we sisters!! My wine fridge is full of these yummies!
Really, no liquor in the grocery store? Ew! What a pain. You'll really be jealous because we can even buy our liquor & beer in Wal-Mart. And it doesn't even have to be a super center.

Cupcake is the only wine my friend drinks....I like it too. My DH and I love New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs..some good reasonably priced ones that we drink a lot are Kim Crawford and Oyster Bay. If you want to splurge, Cloudy Bay is wonderful.
