She's cute!  I would try making her laugh.

I think they all go through that at some point.  She'll outgrow it.  I think it's cute!

We call that the "Cheesy Grin"--My daughter was the master of the Cheesy Grin.  To help her, we had her smile with her teeth not touching--if that makes sense??!!

Your daughter is a cutie!!  Cherish those Cheesy Grins!!!!!  Although she doesn't look like my daughter, she reminds me of her--I think it's the cheesy grin and the sparkle in her eyes!!

OMG she is adorable.. there is somehting to be said for the "fake " smile...you will all be giggling over it years from now but I am with the thought of something funny to make her smile - maybe come up with reportoire before hand, made up words? jokes?  Just a thought.  My niece is the same way - 4 yrs old and poses like a diva for the camera every time - hand on the hip and eyes looking up to the sky.....god helo the parents when she becomes a teenager!

My cousin's little boy says underwear when he get ready to take a picture. It makes him laugh and they get a real smile but you have to be quick.

Kimmy does this every now and again....I have found that if I ask her not to smile at all and then say that she has to respond to it works to get a more natural look.

Re: smile help needed
This happened to my sister.  She photographed my nepwhew so much throughout his life, he became very self-conscious for a short period of time when he was about 8 or 9 years old. Then, being only a phase, it stopped and in time, he began to smile naturally in front of the camera again. To this day, nine times out of ten, he takes a very handsome photo. Hang in there- it will pass. He is 31 now and a very handsome man- he loves looking at all the photos she took of him, too.
Enjoy for we will never have this day again.

Maybe try telling her NOT to smile or laugh... try to keep a straight face... they giggle and laugh then

I knew a kid that would do that.  He'd say CHEESE all the time.   I would then say Pepperoni and he'd giggle - and that's when I'd snap the shot.
