this is what i do in our hardwood dining room...the texas house is entirely wood floors so will do the same there......just much more floor to do..lol
I was thinking about this last night, all the work that it took when they really had to be cleaned was worth it. They looked beautiful when it was done and I felt a great sense of accomplishment. I just might float the hardwood idea past DH, since we have been looking at replacing the carpet anyway.CarrieG wrote:MacSarah wrote:Our old house had hardwood. I used vinegar and water on mine, too. And, they were sealed (varnished?), also. It was just in the living room and the hallway in our tiny cabin. It did the trick, but we only lived there 3 years. And I had rugs in the high traffic areas.cort wrote:I have used just vinegar and water on mine ( i usually use about a half and half mix)..but i think that they have to be sealed and not waxed if i remember correctly. I have also used the hot water and vinegar mix on my kitchen cabinets and my wood furniture. the key i think to the wood floors is not to soak them. Mine really need refinished but it's a project that i am not confident that i could do and make it look decent.
